Many people in New Orleans that chose not to evacuate, did so just because they didn't want to abandon their pets -- they were rescued from their rooftops or waded through floods, with their ( Read more... )

Just a note that Noah's Wish will help evacuate the 'nontraditional' pets that the Humane Society will not/can not. :)

As shocking as this whole situation is, the one thing that has upset me most was hearing that people weren't allowed to take their pets with them when they were being evacuated.

I heard the first report on the radio news, then my family told me about the TV report showing a little dog pawing at the bus doors as his master was being driven away. How hearbreaking! How CRUEL. I cannot understand anyone doing this. Or making anyone do it.

I would not leave my cat behind. I could not do it.

Down here, none of us can understand how this whole situation has developed. It's incomprehensible to us that more is not being done to help evacuate people.

Unbelievable.

You are such a nice person; posting all of these links to try to encourage people to donate!

I went to class yesterday and when I was waiting for the class to start I asked several of the students if they planned on donating anything. I can't believe that almost half the class were like "I haven't even thought about donating, why would I do that?" or "It doesn't affect me" or the really sad part: "I might give some can food away."

Sometimes I just don't get people.
