(The Wimpfheimer is the preschool on Vassar's campus)
Dear Abby,
Welcome to Vassar! I am so happy that you wrote to me about Wimpfheimer.
Will you be visiting for either of the admitted student dates? I would
be more than happy to give you a tour of the school.
There are many opportunities to work at Wimpfheimer. If you are coming
in on a financial aid package, you can request working at the school as
your campus job. If not, you can wait until the second week of the
semester and then apply for a position in the school. Both of those
options are paid. You can also volunteer, especially if you want a work
schedule of less than eight hours per week.
You should put Introduction to Psychology as a course choice for
registration. This will allow you to try to get into a Developmental
Psychology course in the spring semester. I can also request you as my
advisee if you would like. Do you have an interest in psychology or in
certification to teach elementary education?
Please let me know if you will be on campus in the next two weeks! I
look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our wonderful lab
school (not to mention college!).
Ms. Riess
So, I'm going to meet with her (the director of the nursery school) when I go down on the 23rd for the open house and convince her to give me the job (hopefully I can get it, since the people receiving financial aid will obviously have priority). But really, this woman sounds amazing for offering to request me as her advisee. I'm falling in love with Vassar all over again!
This job would make me so happy, because I am seriously not ready to give up the NSHS preschool.
In other news, I discovered that Deb and I should go to vegan restaurants more often. And that I am addicted to Bob's waffle fries.
