You'd probably love KEXP 90.3 here in Seattle. I think it's bloody awful. They play Okkervil River and Devendra Banhart or whatever and all that other indie-type-junk that I have such a strong distaste for with very few exceptions. If you want you can listen to it online: http://kexp.org/home.asp
Meh. I guess I can at least give the Boro credit for finally attempting to step out of the mainstream. [Z102.1 is in Statesboro, right? I never listened to FM while I was there, so I'm just assuming.]
I'm sure I'd be a lot less impressed in a place like Seattle. Statesboro, like you said, is not the most progressive when it comes to music. Even 91.1 and 89.9 (both NPR stations) have a hard time being picked up in many parts of town. I have to continually flip back and forth to hear the shows I like. On the other hand, the conservative news channel (an AM station 1240 I think) comes in clear all over town. So I can hear Rush Limbaugh, Neal Bortz, and Sean Hannady whenever I want. I've found that listening to them is entertaining, though. You should hear their ideas on immigration, global warming, and the upcoming presidential election
