Inadequate explanations

Jun 05, 2005 15:30

I am posting about a couple of recent suspensions of journals which I think were completely unreasonable, mine (msgingersnaps) and cdaae13. What particularly annoys me is that LJ Abuse refuses to give adequate explanations for the suspension of these journals, and will not answer any questions put to them ( Read more... )

From what I've read elsewhere, most of the related suspensions came from a single mod.

Now, I mod at an online art gallery. If I suddenly started making a string of seemingly biased decisions, you'd better believe that one of the senior staff would want to have a talk with me... if only to inform me that my moderator status was being pulled.

It doesn't matter that the stuff you were replying to wasn't on LJ. You were doing the replying on LJ. If you were including links, it could easily be considered incitement to harrasment if they got harassed by anyone. It doesn't matter if you were the one doing it or not.

(a paid journal from a long-time user who had had no previous problems with them)

Never bring this up. Bitching about losing a Paid Account generally makes me (and a lot of people here) not care whether or not the suspension was legitimate because it's an irrelevant fact that people always bring up and it's spectacularly obnoxious. I lost like eight months of paid time when my old account got suspended. I didn't care at all.

And if an order of no contact is issued, that means the owener of the account had broken the Terms of Service at least once before. They could've just suspended the account then. If you break the rules, you'll get suspended eventually.

Someone could DoS them with just a URL.

So if someone writes anything about me on their LJ asking me to back up my accusations as fact, and links to me, I can have them suspended for harassment?
