If a computer crashes in the woods, would anyone hear it fall?

As far as a computer crashing goes, I guess no one would hear that, because that wouldn't make any noise to begin with.
On the other hand, I've always found that 'if a tree fell...' question rather irksome. Of course a tree falling would generate noise; that's a scientific fact, whether or not someone was around to hear that noise is beside the point. The whole question seems based on an illogical assumption that nothing will happen if no one's around to witness it. That's what I always thought, anyway. :D

It's possibly similar to the thing with the colour not existing if there's no one there to see it. 'Cause colour isn't inherent to the universe, but is just our interpretation of certian radiational stimuli.

Oh I see. So with the tree thing, it's like saying that if no one's around to hear it, it's only a series of vibrations through the air but not an actual sound because nobody's ears have interpreted it as such? Interesting. *ponders*
