Fandom: Homestuck
Pairing: Karkat Vantas/Nepeta Leijon
Theme set: Delta
Title: My Faces
Rating: PG
Warning[s]: Human AU, spoilers, implied sexual themes, OOCness, character death, unrequited love, other pairings concerning these two implied (whether or not it's one sided is up to the reader).
Notes: A lot of this won't make sense unless you have read Homestuck. Also, the title came from the fact that I was (and am) loving the song Ten Faced (Juu Mensou).
~Youkuso: Welcome in Japanese.
~Pandora's Box: (Read this in the Percy Jackson series, but) Hope was the only one left in the box after it was open.
~If anything else is needed to be explained, feel free to tell me~!
#01 - Air: Nepeta needed him like she needed to breathe-she wasn’t embarrassed to admit this.
#02 - Apples: “Eat it,” she told him in a kind voice, hoping to destroy his aversion to this (delicious) fruit.
#03 - Beginning: Nepeta flushed lightly, smiling as Karkat finally (finally) was able to tell her that he pitied her.
#04 - Bugs: It was cute, and she couldn’t help but to hold her hand out towards it, hoping that it would crawl on her hand.
#05 - Coffee: He nearly spat the atrocious, disgusting (and other things that were censored just for the reader) drink our, but refrained from doing so.
#06 - Dark: “Karkat,” she whispered, clinging to him-maybe it was just an excuse to hold onto him (she claimed to be terrified of the dark.)
#07 - Despair: She didn’t know how he was able to hide his horror, but she didn’t do anything but mourn the child that would’ve been.
#08 - Doors: “Why would I do that,” Karkat asked, more amused than annoyed by her request-she wanted to go into Wonderland, and she asked him to join her.
#09 - Drink: The sickly sweet drink made him cringe, and he wondered about Nepeta’s immunity to the sickening taste.
#10 - Duty: He was responsible for leading their team, so he couldn’t pity another troll, not if they wanted to stay alive.
#11 - Earth: “The fuck are we doing here,” Karkat muttered, glaring at the thing that stood right in front of him.
#12 - End: She would die, and she couldn’t help but to wish that she’d confessed to him.
#13 - Fall: She fell in love with the wrong guy, and now he had to deal with the consequences.
#14 - Fire: She burned him, threw him into the all-consuming blaze, but he always went back for more, more of that heat that only she could give.
#15 - Flexible: “Karkitty, are you able to do this,” she asked innocently, pointing to a picture in a doujinshi that… wasn’t realistically possible.
#16 - Flying: She watched him take off, knowing that he was always special-she knew that he could soar to unimaginable heights, but she didn’t think of that literally.
#17 - Food: “This tastes good,” he mumbled around the pasta noodles, watching her coo about how nice he was.
#18 - Foot: “Stop kicking me, Nepeta!”
#19 - Grave: “Hm, never thought Gamzee would die, or that you would kill him,” Karkat said, looking at her.
#20 - Green: “You’re green with envy,” the voices cooed, and she couldn’t help but to agree as she watched him dance with another girl-Jade Harley.
#21 - Head: She laughed as a plastic bucket given to him, nearly hitting him in the head once again-it was truly enjoyable, his flush, his embarrassment overall.
#22 - Hollow: It was hard to think of anything-she felt like there was nothing left for her.
#23 - Honor: “It would be my honor to accompany you,” he said sarcastically, and she giggled in response.
#24 - Hope: “Hope is there for you, is there for humanity when needed,” Nepeta murmured, thinking of the legend of Pandora’s Box (or… jar.)
#25 - Light: “You really are annoying,” Karkat murmured, but she swore she could see a hidden amusement in his eyes.
#26 - Lost: She didn’t know what route she was on (she blamed those that had screwed with the corridors), but she suddenly bumped into Karkat, and immediately flushed, and muttered an apology.
#27 - Metal: It hurt, hearing his nails scrape along the metal door, but she couldn’t do anything but pull her legs closer, huddling.
#28 - New: “Karkitty-this is an old computer; how can you use the latest model of technology, but be clueless about its predecessors?”
#29 - Old: She chuckled at his expression-he looked almost annoyed-as he attempt to turn on this computer; really, he should’ve read the manual instead of insisting that he could tackle it just because he knew how to use its successor.
#30 - Peace: Sometimes, she just wanted a time where they wouldn’t fight each other-she had finally obtained it in the game, but she wished for the fighting more than anything.
#31 - Poison: It contaminated her, consumed her, and she couldn’t help but to want more-if she was going to die at his hands, well, she might as well do it thoroughly.
#32 - Pretty: She didn’t like how she looked-he didn’t notice her-but she felt better when Equius said something about her being “pretty” (and seeing him get jealous-maybe they should mention that they’re only best friends).
#33 - Rain: She didn’t mind that they were being forced to stand out here because of her friends, but she did mind that she was getting soaked to the bones because he didn’t bring an umbrella with him (maybe that kiss in the rain would have to wait till later.)
#34 - Regret: There was nothing she regretted-she didn’t care that she gave her all, that she had to compete with others for his affection-she didn’t mind that at all; she, however, wouldn’t lose him.
#35 - Roses: “A bit… cliché, don’t you think, Karkitty?”
#36 - Secret: Sometimes, she wondered if he knew of her feelings for him, if maybe their relationship would turn into the exact same one their ancestors had, expanding beyond the quadrants.
#37 - Snakes: He was the first sin, the snake, tempting humans into doing things, being an envious creature, but she couldn’t help but to sympathize with him at this moment-it was so easy to forget anything but that jealousy when it was staring you right in the face.
#38 - Snow: “It’s so cold,” he growled, but at the same time was amused by Nepeta’s attempt at a snow angel.
#39 - Solid: In a way, she did like hugging him, leaning into him, if only to show that he was real, that this whole thing was real, and that this wasn’t a figment of her imagination.
#40 - Spring: It was hard to deny those childish desires, so she didn’t-Karkat was angry with her when he found out the mattress was unsuitable for sleep because she had jumped on it.
#41 - Stable: There was nothing wrong with Nepeta’s and Karkat’s relationship-it was a serious, steady relationship that wasn’t threatened by insanity or insane jealousy (though they admit that they hated seeing the other with other people of the other sex.)
#42 - Strange: It was unusual, to see Karkat cradle her, and in a way, she almost believed that this was a dream had it not been for the fact that there was blood all over him, all over her, all over the ground-she had been murdered that day.
#43 - Summer: Sometimes, she wondered if they could do things like normal human couples do (she knew he pitied her, after all), but sometimes she was disgusted by the thought of… ice cream kisses.
#44 - Taboo: In a way, this shouldn’t happen between two “trolls”-she shouldn’t love him (she should pity him), and he should not be reciprocating it; they couldn’t stop, however.
#45 - Ugly: She knew that he was attracted to other females (not excluding the human race), and so she hid from him, creating the pairing wall as accurately as she could, ignoring the pain in her heart as she heard her voice; she finally cracked when she reached his pairings.
#46 - War: “Love is war, and I won’t give Karkat up,” she told Terezi one day, not minding her shocked expression.
#47 - Water: She smiled, almost seductively (though she was much too childish to do that, he reasoned), as she entered the pool, allowing the water to glide over her smooth-he stopped his thoughts right then and there.
#48 - Welcome: He never understood why his girlfriend was into those things, anime, she called them, but he was interested in the reason why she insisted on saying “Youkuso” every time he arrived.
#49 - Winter: It was freezing, and she didn’t understand why she accepted Ivan’s request to come to Russia for winter-at least she brought Karkat with her…
#50 - Wood: She was curious as to what Karkat was doing; that was, until she saw that he was chopping wood.
