Summary: She felt flustered when she met her childhood friend.
A/N: For the prompt Reunion. Honestly was inspired by "Dumb Dumb" by Red Velvet (and so was the title.)
She couldn’t help but flush as he talked to her.
Lon hadn’t seen Soraru in a long time-the last time she’d seen him was right after graduating middle school-and he was handsome. She didn’t know what to feel.
It was an accidental meeting-she had been leaving with her friends from class to “study” and she didn’t know where he was coming from-but they had passed each other, and then he stopped her because “she looked familiar.”
Soraru had dyed his hair a dark blue, and the only indication she got that it wasn’t black like before was from the sun reflecting off his hair, giving it a blueish hue. He had also grown taller, standing almost a foot taller than her, and she found that to be unfair.
They used to be similar in height, and now he could easily hold things out of her reach. She felt herself pouting as she realized that.
She thought the universe hated her.
But the worst part-the part that sucked the most in this whole exchange-was that everything had changed between them. She felt wrong in her skin, like everything she went through during puberty but worse.
Lon thought Soraru was a good friend in middle school, when they were going through the worst of puberty together. But in university, standing in front of him and seeing how he grew up, Lon thought she wouldn’t mind dating him.
She didn’t like feeling so flustered around him, so, so awkward, as she looked away from him and to her feet.
It was fascinating, watching dust get kicked up as she scuffed the ground with her foot (so shy.) It was fascinating to not see his eyes, to not see that intense look he got whenever he was worried or excited about something.
She wondered if she could get over her sudden nerves to ask him to spend time with her-a date but not.
But Soraru, with a small smile, asked Lon if she would be willing to go with him somewhere to talk about their time apart, and she grinned as she nodded.
Everything felt like it was settling back to how it should be. There was still some residual tension and unsurety, but she felt like that would disappear once they started talking about their lives.
Lon couldn’t wait to hear about what Soraru had been up to during high school-and where he was attending for university.
