really, the entire practice of people-watching - which is apparently so popular that we've decided to base an entire game around it - is what you're talking about. i think that Fashion (the Industry) has really corrupted the whole thing. fashion is an incredible opportunity to put artwork on display (hooray threadless!) in a mobile, functional, individualistic way. and then corporations - the Industry - turn it into this MONSTER that manages to create sweatshops, anorexia, consumerism, and lack of regard for the environment in one fell swoop. not that the Industry is the sole violator in any of those areas, but it certainly is a major (if not the central) contributor to each.

so maybe reforming this particular arena is Good and Important as well as Cool.
