There are some problems with your state logic. Illinois, Indiana and Ohio all border some of the Great Lakes, and I think that Iowa should be in the same boat as Kansas, OK and NE, becuase Iowa has the same set of Farm America qualities (Iowa is know for it's corn production). Similarly, Iowa is pretty cool because they are one of the first states to decide who should be president.
I sent this to your over AIM, but now I can put it up here...
Yeah, I know those states all technically border the Great Lakes, but I don't know, when I think "Great Lake states" they aren't the ones to come to mind, so I don't count them as such. I have heard the argument that Iowa is also farmland, but I guess to me it just doesn't seem as farmy as, say, Oklahoma. Besides, Kansas has The Wizard of Oz, Oklahoma has Oklahoma!,... OK, Nebraska doesn't really have a whole lot going for it either. Still: IMO, not as nothing as Iowa.
Of course I did. You think I remember all the flyover states on my own?
Apparently it has "the best sweet corn ever" according to one of my friends... but so what? That still doesn't put it above Indiana or Ohio, to say nothing of the rest of the country.

Oh, and Indy has the Colts, who are kicking ass this year.
Iowa? *nods* Yup, nice choice.
