Heh! Surely, Jack realized that he would get caught on that! I was in the same boat as Carter. I had no idea what was being refered to, so be both found out at the same time. : ) I like Daniel wanting to help Sam, but not wanting to give the joke away, either.

We're going to try this again, I had at least half a dozen attempts at replies to comments and comments to others' stories get eaten before I gave up trying yesterday. :-O

Thank you, Betty. :-) I saw this as one of those times where Jack blurted out something fairly inane and then had it grow on him. As Sam pursued the puzzle, Jack realized that she was going to end up hearing the entire closing quote, not just the mathematically impossible part about all the children being above average. Since Daniel wasn't ABOUT to be the one to reveal the entire quote in her presence, Jack was going to be facing one rather ticked off 'strong woman'. :-)
