I don't think I have the gumption to be an actor. Not to mention my inability to touch my toes. Honestly, is this class supposed to train us to be actors or circus performers. Grrr ( Read more... )

What does touching your toes have to do with acting?

Yeah, Powell was really the only decent member of the whole damn administration.

See, actors are supposed to be able to do things that normal people can't. This includes touching one's toes I suppose. Of course, this is margolis method, which really only works for margolis shows. Sort of a egotistical thing. Meh, this is why I'm going into management, there aren't theories of management, you just use what works.

Ok, I know Kym is really flexible and it does seem like she's showing off in class but I don't agree that Margolis Method only works in Margolis shows. Though you're not too far off w/ the circus performer thing w/ some of the stuff i've had to do this year. The whole margolis method thing really gets to me, I mean, I HATE IT, I hate that I have to just do it and I can't rationalize it or intellectualize it but I know that I always feel better after a margolis class (physically better) and I know that in two auditions and many many classes in the past month (including improv) that I've noticed myself being very aware of elastics and springs and the physical stuff that we learn in that class. Maybe not the specific exersises but the theories and thought-processes. It's just one more tool....one that I will probably complain about all next semester but meh...life goes on...I hope.

Oh I know, it's just difficult. Of course, I'd complain just as much if not more if I wasn't being pushed, so really, I think I should just change my personality and be annoying upbeat about everything.
