chicago is oct 22. so i could do the 18 week with a modified recovery part, or do the 12 week with a full recovery and a gap in the middle where i just do some base building.
i like the idea of "full recovery" - we call it taper in swimming. taper is generally thought of as the most wonderful time of the year...practices get shorter (but are still intense), one has more energy, one is also encouraged to be lazy (oh heck yeah for taking the elevator one story). while i don't get to taper much as a distance swimmer, i would imagine it would help out a marathoner...

p.s. when is chicago? i would think that however far away it is would determine which training schedule you pick
