On why I won’t become a fan of those works about the ‘Mafia’

A fellow artist once told me her plan with her working partner to make a ‘BL story about the head of an Italian mafia family and an Irish mafioso’.

Considering that I live in a place where the Camorra actually, you know, kills us, it pisses me off to no end when people glorify the mafia. No, they are NOT cool, they are despicable scum who live off the death and suffering of countless innocents.

As for their "rules of honor", that time is past. My father told me that, when he was a boy, the mafiosi actually did follow a "code"; for example, they never hurt children. But now? They'll shoot a toddler without a second thought.

Thank you for sharing (and the updating about 'rules of honour'). I know people like you who have to share the same living environment with the Mafia, and although we have different problems here, I know that it is TOTALLY not nice when people make fun of what to you is a matter of life and death.

It's crazy to me that some people just cannot... empathize with people who have to brush shoulders with the Mafia.
