*Hmph*

I have a few minutes to catch a breath, so I figured a post was in order. It's Wednesday afternoon and I have something like 50hrs for the week. Most HD cable boxes also down-rez HD content to SD on the SD outputs, and you can record those with a standard TiVo. So you can still use the TiVo for any SD content and any HD content you're not home for, and watch other HD content 'live' if you want it in full HD.

The Series3 is down around $650 with some of the specials out there, and the price should continue to drop. So if you wait until next year you can probably get it for a lot less, and then switch to TiVo in HD.

i'm pretty sure the HD-dvr can record standard def as well. and with my HD box if i output any of the HD channels on the s-video, coax, or rca outputs it letterboxes the show.

as far as pricing, cox will charge you for digital cable, the rent for the digital gateway, the HD service, and the extra rent for the HD-dvr or cable box, which ever you get.
