though you know i don't think it's sad... the message i take away is, no matter the circumstances, you'll always be able to turn to literature - to poetry - and you will be able to find something in it that speaks to who you are.

Ah, I was referring more to the circumstances described. It's good when literature can be found to be soothing, or just speak to you in general :)

me too! but i think - within the poem - the act of reading the poem transforms these situations, or lifts them out of narrow bleakness.
