WHO: Wesker and Rebecca Chambers WHAT: PEOPLE, PEOPLE EVERYWHERE. Also, questions. WHEN: The day after this. Just as the event begins. WHERE: Rich district; La Vista Hotel.
Rebecca woke up slowly, feeling as though she had slept for days but still felt exhausted. The curtains were drawn over the windows so she couldn't tell what time of day it was. She got out of bed gingerly, the ache of sore muscles and various bruises reminding her painfully of the recent events. Where was she? She looked around the room, confused for a moment. This certainly wasn't the mansion, the facility, or even anywhere in Raccoon City
( ... )
The sound of one of the centrifuges working would be heard as Wesker turned in his seat to face Rebecca. She was already wearing one of the outfits he had bought; great. He was about to ask how his pet rookie was doing when she asked her question; yeah, best to address that first. "They're back," Wesker said simply. "They had been gone for weeks, and now they're here, as quickly as they had disappeared."
In the kitchen, there was a pot of coffee being mixed from the machine. The curtains here, however, had been open. "Take a look outside, Rebecca. Tell me what you notice."
He was hoping she was as perceptive and intelligent as he had given her credit for the day before.
Rebecca stepped over by the window, almost stepping to the side out of habit but then remembering that there weren't any zombies or dogs that could leap out at her here. The sun felt wonderful on her skin. She stared out in wonder at the changed scene before her.
"The building are all built up again like new. They were in ruins before, weren't they?"
The events of yesterday still felt like a blur.
"And the people...they seem happy. As if they've been here all along. As if there wasn't a plague like the one you mentioned yesterday."
Things were starting to make even less sense than they had before. It was such a strange mixed up world.
"Exactly," Wesker replied, pleased. "Good." He then stood up from his seated position, and joined her at the window. "They are oblivious to the disease that ravages this city, and they act as if they hadn't disappeared at all. And watch their faces... it's almost too harmonious."
The researcher then exhaled sharply. "It confirms my suspicion from before. This is a supernatural occurrence. We are are dealing with something that exists outside of the realm of science."
