Can someone please tell me how Twilight is at all different from virtually every vampire story of the last 30 years?

Sorry, I love this book, it's not badly written. Especially the first book is very romantic, the second very thrilling. It's a book for women, not men... sorry ;D So I'm not blaming you for not liking it ;p

Nice to meet you, too! I don't dislike the series - I haven't even read it. I am on a bunch of horror panels at conventions and learn about tons of vampire books - all of them being essentially similar (and obscure) and just wanted to know how this one in particular got to be so popular.
