It's not as interesting as... oh, but she would've even let herself finish that thought. She could already feel her cheeks turning pink, and she certainly couldn't have that.

"It seems a little tedious," she said, having little to go on, considering she hadn't actually managed to read any of the chapter.

"Let me see." He beckoned for the book (if it were anyone else he'd have simply summoned it). "These books are always long-winded, but the authors can't help it. They're paid by the word."

She hoped her book was open to chapter 9. She knew that's what they had studied in class. Well, at least she vaguely remembered it being stated. She might have been doodling on her notes. She was normally a very good student; granted, the majority of her top marks came from potions, but still! She crossed her fingers and handed her book over to Alan.

"I imagine I would be long-winded too if I was paid by the word," she said with a little laugh. "But, it's still rather irksome."
