Once at the doorstep, Lea quickly retrieved her key from her bag, giving Dianna an evil smirk.
“Are you making fun of me, Lea Michele?” Dianna asked sternly, trying not to let the smile she was keeping in from peeping out.
“No, never.” Lea answered, turning her face away quick enough to hide her snickering.
Lea reached in and just before Dianna could think the words, man, it’s dark in here, light illuminated the four walls of her living room. This was the first time Dianna had been to Lea’s new place. The walls were a light purple. It’s funny because Dianna wouldn’t have notice it, just as no one really noticed the purple in the apartment used in the show FRIENDS, if it weren’t so dark out.
“Feel free to browse around. Make yourself at home,” Lea said sticking out her tongue.
Dianna smiled back and walked to a table with photo frames. She slowly stroked the frames as she studied the people in the photos. There was a few with her and her mother from when she was about five. One in particular caught her eye. Dianna picked it up. It was a more older looking Lea than the other photographs. Lea was sitting with her dad and smiling over what looked like a big birthday cake.
“That was my 14th birthday.” Lea said. Dianna looked to her right, startled. Lea continued, “It was the first real birthday party I had with my family involved since I had started performing.” She looked down and half-smiled. “It was nice.”
Dianna set the photo down as Lea walked into the kitchen. Dianna walked over to the counter-bar and sat on a stool watching Lea rummage through her cupboards.
“Hungry?” Lea asked.
Dianna shook her head, “No, not really. I’m just tired.”
Lea found some chips and started munching away. “Do you need clothes?”
Dianna looked back to her purse. “I think I may have some shorts and I have a tank beneath this, so I think I’m okay for tonight. I’m sure the guys will find my keys somewhere.” Dianna reached for her phone and started texting the boys who were probably still cleaning up, or just messing around for that matter.
Lea lead Dianna to the bedroom. There was one king sized bed and two dressers with a large mirror on the right side of the room. The lilac color of the walls felt welcoming drenched with the hazy yellow light from the lamp. “Do you mind sleeping in the same bed?”
Dianna stared at the shorter brunette, “Lea, darling, are we not friends?”
Lea smiled, “I know, but some people aren’t comfortable sleeping in a bed with another person.”
Dianna chuckled lightly. “I’m so tired, I could sleep on the roof if I had to.”
Finally getting on the bed, just closing her eyes, Dianna could have fallen asleep mid crawl. The day had been great and she was grateful for that, but right now, all she wanted was a few hours of shut eye. It took quite the sum of her remaining strength to look at Lea’s alarm clock. 2:48am. She groaned and rolled her head over closing her eyes once more. Lea opened the door to the bathroom and turned off the light. She was in tiny shorts and a small tee. She didn’t know why, but she felt disappointment when she saw Dianna’s eyes closed. She sighed and crawled on the opposite side of the bed.
“I can’t believe we start the tour tomorrow. The first city is San Francisco. I haven’t been there since I was a child. It’ll be interesting to see how much it’s changed. I mean, it wasn’t that long ago, bu-” smiling, Lea looked over to find Dianna asleep. Lea closed her mouth to stop her from breathing so loudly. The light blue haze of the night was almost shimmering on her skin. Subconsciously, she reached out and slightly grazed her fingertips over Dianna’s cheek. Dianna twitched a little and opened her eyes just a bit.
“Sorry..” Lea whispered.
Dianna closed her eyes and smiled goofily. She leaned close to Lea’s face and said, “It’s okay.”
Lea froze. Dianna’s lips were dangerously close to hers. Her eyes kept dropping from Dianna’s closed eyes to her sleepy, smirking lips. Lea let her eyes close for just a second and imagined things she didn’t understand. Dianna then continued to whisper, “Goodnight, darling.”
Before Lea could open her eyes, Dianna’s lips tickled Lea’s and then fell completely on hers. Lea rapidly turned her body onto her back and froze once more. Her chest was heaving at great speed. Her mind was racing with more thoughts that she couldn’t quite comprehend at the moment. Lea’s eyes slowly traveled back to find Dianna’s back toward her. She looked back up. The shadows of the palm trees outside were moving at a synchronized pace; it helped calm her heart beat. That was only until she closed her eyes and relived the short kiss. Her chest began to rise and fall at a much quicker pace thinking about it so she decided to just try and sleep instead. They all had a long drive ahead of them in a few hours so she needed to rest now.
