- Part One - Part Two - Part Three -
Lea’s eyes could not focus. She looked around like a nut trying to figure out what all the fuss was about. She felt around the bed. Dianna’s side was cold. When did she get up? Lea thought. All she could hear was Dianna’s frantic voice coming from the kitchen. Lea dropped her arms on the bed lifelessly, took a deep breath and sighed. She grabbed the end of the blanket and threw it off her, dropping one leg at a time onto the ground, moving her feet looking for her flip-flops. She brought up her torso slowly, stood up and drowsily dragged her feet toward the voice.

Dianna was on the phone with someone and leaning against the kitchen counter. Her fingers were brought to her eyebrows and moving in circles. Lea looked at the microwave clock. 5:40am. Uh-oh, we’re late, Lea thought. She walked closer to the panicking blonde and laid a hand on her shoulder.

“Are you sure you couldn’t find them anywhere?”

Was Dianna still worried about her keys? Lea thought.

“Alright, I guess I’ll just go shopping in San Fran when we get there.. Well, there’s nothing I can do. There’s no way my landlord will open the door to my house at this time. I don’t want any problems. I’ll get my luggage shipped out to the next city we stop at.. Okay, I’ll see you in a bit.” Dianna took the phone from her shoulder and pressed the top button hanging up the call.

Lea looked at her, “I’m sorry.”

Dianna’s gaze on the floor softened. She turned to face Lea. “It’s not your fault, but I do need a hug.”

Lea pulled Dianna close. They lingered in each other’s arms for a little while longer. Lea didn’t know when to let go. Dianna finally sighed deeply and pulled away.

“We should get going. They are waiting for us.” Dianna walked back to Lea’s room and put on the sweats she was wearing just a few hours earlier. Lea grabbed her jeans and pulled them up above her shorts.

Both girls walked into the living room area. Dianna reached for her purse and Lea for her luggage. She couldn’t help but hold back a little giggle when Dianna squinted a mean look at Lea when she saw her bags in hand.

“I’ll take you shopping, don’t you worry.” Lea winked and Dianna smirked. They exited the apartment one right after the other.

“Thank you.” Lea said to the cab driver.

Dianna pulled Lea’s hand down and before Lea could say anything, Dianna spoke, “Let me.”

Lea nodded slightly. Dianna paid the cab driver and stepped out to get Lea’s bags from the trunk. They met up with the rest of the cast by the tour buses. Brian, the assistant manager, took Lea’s things and put them in the bottom of the bus. He explained that there are 4 buses for the cast: two for the guys and two for the girls. Dianna, Lea, and Naya shared one and Heather, Jenna and Amber shared the other.

Lea was the first to wander off from the group meeting. She walked into the tour bus. It was rather nice. There was a living room area with a large television and couches along with a minibar looking kitchen. She let her hand run along the leather of the couch and her other hand over the stools of the minibar. Toward the back were the beds. There were 4 bunks. Lea wondered why they couldn’t get a bus with more beds to fit the rest of the girls in. It would have been nice to have the whole gang of girls in one bus.

“Picking your bunk first? That’s not fair, Lea!” Naya’s voice scared the life out of Lea. She jumped and held her chest. “Naya, could you not cause me to have a heart attack, please? Lord, Almighty!”

Naya laughed at her and patted her head. “I’m sorry,” and stuck out her tongue and turned around, “I get top bunk. I don’t care which side.” Naya left the bus to gather her personals. Lea still clenched her chest. Why am I so jittery?

She sat on the bottom left bunk. “Not bad.” She lied down and stared at the bottom of the bunk on top of her, trying to calm down again. Lea didn’t even notice her eyes closed and the incident that happened just hours before played in her head. Why did she kiss me? Did she even know? Does she remember? Should I ask her?

“BOO!” Lea’s head shot up and smashed against the top bunk.

Dianna gasped, she didn’t mean to scare Lea that bad. “Oh, my God! I’m so so so so so so sorry, Lea!”

Lea held her head in her hands, fighting back tears. It was a pretty rough hit.

“Lea, please talk to me. I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you like that. I was just playing around.”

Lea took in a deep breath. “It’s okay. It just hurts a bit.”

She looked up at Dianna. She had tears running down her face. “Dianna, why are you crying? You didn’t just get a concussion, I did.” She chuckled.

Dianna smiled a little. “Because I feel like crap now.” She reached up to pull Lea’s hands from her face, “let me see.” She had a small gash on the very top of her forehead, barely bleeding.

“You’ll be okay, darling.” Dianna said smiling.

“Yeah, easy for you to say, you didn’t just lose 20 IQ points.”

“Jesus, guys, already trying to kill each other? The tour hasn’t even started yet.” Naya interrupted.

“Shut up, Nay. I just scared Lea, that’s all.”

“You, too? Ha! Oh, Lea,” Naya put her hand on Lea’s shoulder, “we’re going to have fun with you in the next few months.”

Lea looked at Naya and then at Dianna then pouted.

“Don’t worry, Lea. Think of it this way: you’re my very own Harry Potter.” Dianna nodded showing all her teeth with that gorgeous smile.

Lea shoved Dianna playfully, shaking her head at her cheesy joke and chuckled, “yeah, thanks, Voldemort!”

A couple of hours into the bus ride to San Francisco, Lea was lying on her bed staring again. This time she made sure to keep her eyes open. She didn’t want another gash on her head. The flooring creaked softly. Lea turned her head to the side.

“How’re you feeling?” Dianna kneeled at the side of the bed.

Lea moved over and patted the bed, signaling Dianna to lie with her. Lea looked up again. Dianna turned onto her side. “Getting dumber by the second.” Lea responded laughing.

Dianna slapped her shoulder, “oh hush, I already feel guilty enough.”

They both stared up at the bottom of the top bunk for a while. Lea broke the silence, “do you remember last night?”

Dianna furrowed her eyebrows in thought. “What do you mean?”

“I’m just wondering if you remembered anything because you were so tired.”

“Umm, no, not really. I had a strange dream..” Dianna’s voice drifted.

Lea’s heart started beating rapidly. She thinks it was a dream?

“Ah, I don’t remember. Never mind.”

“Oh, okay.”

“Why do you ask?”

“Nothing. You’re just an embarrassment to society when you’re sleepy.”

Dianna’s mouth hung open, “I am not!” she shouted, “what happened?”

Lea laughed too hard trying to cover up her beet-red face, “Nothing, nothing. I’m just yanking your chain.”

“Yanking my chain?” Dianna raised an eyebrow at Lea, “Oh, okay, grandma. Geez, that smack in the head really sent you back a few decades didn’t it?”

“Shut up, Di.” Lea giggled.

“Come on, keep me warm, I’m freezing.” Dianna said as she tried getting under the covers.

“Aw, come on! You have your own bunk! In fact, there are three because Naya fell asleep on the couch.” Lea tried to push Dianna off her bed, but Dianna kept resisting.

“Please!” Dianna whined.

Lea finally gave in, “Ugh, alright. Don’t fall, though. We don’t need another one of us losing consciousness.”
