3 tutorials requested by longerthanwedo. :)

All made in Photoshop CS5.

>>

I had to recreate this icon, but I hope it's close enough. :)

01. Duplicate your base twice. Set the first copy to Screen 100%, and the second one to Screen 39%. This is to brighten up the image.

02. Add a new Curves layer with these settings:
RGB: Output 207, Input 193

Red: Point 1: Output 38, input 63
Point 2: Output 234, input 204

Green: Point 1: Output 149, input 141
Point 2: Output 44, input 48
Point 3: Output 214, input 205

Blue: Point 1: Output 199, input 204
Point 2: Output 92, input 75
This is to make it more green-ish.

03. Stamp your layers (ctrl+alt+shift+e), go to Filter>>Blur>>Gaussian Blur, 5px radius. Set this layer to Soft Light. This gives that "glowy" feel.

04. Add a new gradient with color #370d54 at the bottom and #fdd3d3 at the top. Set this layer to Soft Light 47%. This makes a bit more purple but also adds light at the top and shadow and the bottom.

05. Add a new Selective Coloring layer with these settings:
Reds: +28, +12, -7, 0
This adds more pink/purple.

06. Add a new vibrance layer with vibrance +69.
Or you can add a new Hue/Saturation layer with Saturation +20.
Makes everything more colorful.

07. Now duplicate the curves layer from step 2, drag it at the top of the layers palette and set it to 10%. This removes some of the redness.

08. Add a new color fill layer with color #366a72, set to Soft Light. This removes even more of the redness and add more green/blue.

09. Now open this (don't ask :P) screencap, re-size it to 178x100px drag it over to your icon and set it to Screen. I use it as a texture to make it more blue and add those light things.

10. Add a new color fill layer with the color #6b8589, set to Soft Light. This makes it even more green/blue-ish.

11. Now add a Vibrance layer with vibrance +59.
Or a Hue/saturation with Saturation +18.
This makes it more colorful.

12. Add a new color fill layer with #987249, set it to Soft Light to add more orange.

13. Stamp your layers again (ctl+alt+shift+e). Go to Filer>>Sharpen>>Sharpen, then to Edit>>Fade sharpen 80%.

14. Last step, add a new Vibrance layer with vibrance +15.
Or a Hue/saturation layer with saturation +5.

Finito!

>>

01. Add a new Selective coloring layer with these settings:
Reds: 0, 0, +24, 0
Yellows: 0, +14, -7
This only makes a tiny difference and I'm not quite sure why I did it in the first place, but it adds a bit more yellow and purple.

02. Now a Vibrance layer to bring out the colors: Vibrance +75
Or Hue/Saturation, saturation +30.

03. A new gradient fill with the color #370d54 at the bottom and #ffffff at the top. Set this to Soft Light 70% to get that purple look.

04. Now add a Curves layer to brighten the image up:
RGB: output 213, input 151

05. A gradient map is next. Make a gradient with the color #320f2a at the bottom and #ebe6ce at the top. Set the opacity of the layer to 60%. This makes it more vintage-y.

06. Stamp your layers (ctrl+alt+shift+e), go to Filter>>Filter gallery>>Brush strokes>>Angled strokes, settings: 33, 14, 0. Set the layer to Soft Light to makes the icon glow.

07. Add this texture by midnight_road. Set it to Screen to add the light at the top.

08. And now add this texture also by midnight_road. Set it to Soft Light to add more purple.

09. Stamp your layers again (ctrl+alt+shift+e) and set the layer to Screen 28% to brighten things up.

10. Now add a Vibrance layer with vibrance +100 to make it more colorful.
Or a Hue/saturation at saturation +40.

11. Last step! Add this texture by idk who. Set it to Screen to add those light blobs.

And finished!

01. Add a new color fill layer with color #cb8241 to get rid of that blue-ness. Set it to Soft Light.

02. A new curves layer for more contrast:
RGB: Output 207, Input 193

Red: Point 1: Output 38, input 63
Point 2: Output 234, input 204

Green: Point 1: Output 149, input 141
Point 2: Output 44, input 48
Point 3: Output 214, input 205

Blue: Point 1: Output 199, input 204
Point 2: Output 92, input 75

03. Stamp your layers (ctrl+alt+shift+e), go to Filter>>blur>>gaussian blur 4 px. Set this to Soft Light to add more contrast and glow.

04. A new selective coloring layer too transform the red parts into pink:
Reds: 0, 0, -24, 0

05. Stamp your layers again, go to Filter>>blur>>motion blur: Angle -90, distance 80. Set this layer to Screen 50%. More glow!

06. Vibrance layer, vibrance +76 to boost the colors.
Or Hue/saturation, saturation +25

07. Duplicate the layer from step 5, drag it to the top and set it to Screen, 27% opacity.

08. Duplicate the vibrance (or hue/saturation) layer from step 6, and drag it to the top.

09. Stamp your layers, go to Filter>>Sharpen>>Sharpen, then to Edit>>Fade sharpen 20%.

10. Add a new curves layer with these settings:
RGB: output 201, input 184

Red: Point 1: output 63, input 82
Point 2: output 199, input 181

Green: output 202, input 192

Blue: Point 1: output 69, input 77
Point 2: output 216, input 199

11. Now, duplicate the Selective Coloring layer from step 4, drag it to the top and set it to 50% opacity!

And finished!

Hope these were helpful!
