Snowflake Challenge - Day 2

Jan 02, 2014 12:37

In your own space, promote three communities, challenges, blogs, pages, Twitters, Tumblrs or platforms and explain why you love them.

1) Forever and always - snape_potter. I loved this comm before I became one of the mods there because Snape/Harry is my OTP and I love the concept of "one stop shopping." I love the idea that I can go to one place and find so ( Read more... )

I was almost going to rec snape_potter, but I think the few people who are active on my flist pretty much already follow it actively. But it's a great community and I'm grateful for the added sense of community that it imparts . <3

bakebakebake looks awesome. Am going to follow it now. Thanks for the rec 8D

Heh. Well, I suspect most people on my flist know snape_potter exists. But I work harder on that community than I have in some jobs I used to be paid to do, so I wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to promote it. ;D And, the comm has changed over the years, so some people may not know it's not just for fests/drabbles/fluffy fic/re-posting/whatever.

Oh, I love bakebakebake! Really anything baking cooking interests me. I would think I'd be baked out at this point, but I keep seeing all these lovely things others are making. I follow some people on my flist who post the most amazing things. I always feel sort of silly saying "OMG, that looks amazing" over and over, but I really am floored by all the talent.

Yes, exactly. =) I'm definitely glad you recced it. More people on the community is something always to be wished for.

=D I didn't know you were into baking and cooking. >__> If you have easy delicious recipes of anything, I'd love to have them. I love finding new recipes that require few ingredients, but I never know which ones actually come out great.

THIS! I will say that now it's so much easier to Google and find really terrific recipes because more people are into cooking and when they review a recipe, they discuss their own tweaks. And then other people comment on those tweaks, too. But there is nothing like finding tried and true recipes from friends.

Hmm. I have to admit that I don't really think in terms of ease or difficulty or number of ingredients when I bake, so I don't have any recs off-hand. I know I have a shortbread recipe with few ingredients and a lot of cookies have similar bases. Plus, while I love looking at cooking blogs, I am a much better baker than cook. *hides all those take out menus* ;D

I'm struggling with today's challenge - I may skip it, in fact - because I'm not very good at community and so on, being naturally rather reclusive. The only thing I could think of that I was sure belonged on a list like this was snape_potter, because it's such a good hub of activity and you all work so hard to keep things lively and fun. It's delightful.

Oh, thank you. That's really wonderful to hear. Like I said to Crystal, I'm pretty sure most people reading this already know about the comm, but I really couldn't pass up a chance to promote it.

I was sort of expecting the challenge to be different from previous years. Reviving the day one challenge seemed a fun way to start, but I hope they plan to mix things up a bit for later days. But I do like the idea that it's fine to skip a day or three and post whenever. I like seeing my flist more active.

Yeah, exactly - and I don't so much think that whether people have heard of it or not is the most important thing; it's a great community that's worth acknowledgement.

Oh, I'm so happy to know you enjoyed it, too! I think I found it originally through a challenge similar to this one. Truly fabulous and everyone there is so helpful!
