Inclined toward vanity. Drawn toward demanding professions. Frequently holds positions of power. Has an innate sense of fair play. Enjoys life's confrontations. Can be naive in the manner in which to place trust in others, especially concerning affairs of the heart. Often sets standards in love that are too difficult for partners to attain. Places great importance in moral issues.
Well, that sums me up I guess.
As far as good things; yes, I'm determined, reserved and optimistic. I will not give up anything until I see an end in sight, to the point where I can drive other people crazy. I'm usually cheerful and I have a healthy (if somewhat odd) sense of humor. And, for the most part, I belive in fairness in all aspects.
Negatives? I'm not all that responsible, I'll admit it. When in a leadership position, I am, but in day to day life I'm kind of immature. I try to be responsible, but it falls through. I trust no one, this is not a secret, as I tell people at face value I don't trust them. Oh, and I'm somewhat of a demanding lover. I'll only go out with those I think are worthy, and if they prove themselves inferior I will drop them quickly.
2. How do you think you would use magic? On a day to day basis? Over your entire lifespan?
Chances are, yeah, I'd use it on a day to day basis. Just for simple things like cleaning up, etc. Once you learn something like magic, I'm sure it would stay with you your whole life. Plus, I know I'd be one of those people who delves deeper into it, I'd be trying to become an anigmagus and other such hijinks. Maybe I'd spend my life trying to decipher hard to accomplish spells because I think I would take pleasure in that. So, yeah, I'd use magic a lot.
3. What are your strongest personality traits? Your weakest?
Strongest :
Rationality - I pride myself on my ability to make decisions based on it's gain. I'm usually right, making those with too much pride in lesser things angry.
Determination - I won't take no for an answer. I once wanted Nine Inch Nails tickets that were sold out, and got up three hundred dollars in a month (when I was unemployed) to get the tickets off a scalper.
Decisiveness - When I make a decision I stick to it, unlike some people.
Optimistic - I can always look on the bright side of life. Any time I'm feeling sorry for myself I always stiffen up my lip and say "It could always get worse." Because quite frankly, it can.
Good leader - Especially if someone else proves they are incappable of leading. I think this can be seen most often in my life when I'm assigned projects for school. Most times, I have to be the one to take the initiative and get everyone together because other people are too meek that way. I can be a follower, but I'm not afraid to be a leader.
Weakest :
Introversion - This is a huge problem for me actually; because I don't need people I completely shut them out without realizing it. I put people off, and they get angry, when it's just that I need my alone time, and that I live within my own world, if you will.
Quiet - I guess this is from the introversion. To people who don't know me, I'm basically mute. You have to really get to know me to see my extremely talkative side come out. Only my close friends have ever seen this side.
Obsession prone - Once I figure I like something, I grab hold of it and don't let go. Potterverse is one of those unlucky things. Once I'm obsessed with something, it takes all my might not to just start blabbing on and on about my obsession du jour.
4. If you could solve world hunger by killing one person would you? Explain why or why not.
I probably would. Even though the death of one is a tragedy, it would save so many others from a perhaps worse fate. If I went and killed someone in their sleep, while they were happy in dream land, I'd feel better about it because somewhere else someone is wasting away from hunger and will die a terrible death.
5. Who would you say is your role model? Explain.
Oh, jeez, I don't really do the whole role model thing. There's some people I admire, but not many at all I'd ever wish to live like. I'm my own person. So, no, I have no role model. For me, it's pure inner strength.
6. How do you respond to confrontation?
Honestly, I like to avoid it. Tension is not something I like in my life. I'd much rather deal with the cold shoulder than an all out screaming match. I'm not sure why I have such an aversion to outright fighting, but I will do anything to stay away from it. I'm sorta passive aggressive that way; if someone does something that I don't like, chances are, especially on first offences, I'm not going to say a word because I don't want it to turn into something huge.
7. What values are important in your life?
I'd say it's mostly just being happy and doing whatever you have to do to be happy. Life is short, too short to be miserable all the time, for whatever reason.
I value my close friends and family members. I realize that the people in your life add up to the happiness in your life, and the people I know give much happiness to my life.
Other than that, love is a big one. Love is one of those things that adds to the happiness figure.
8. If you were to face a boggart, what would it turn into?
As cowardly as it is, it would probably be my own death. I feel I haven't accomplished in life many of the things I want to do. If I died now, that would be the biggest insult to me, because I'm just getting started in what I hope to be a productive life. I'm not ready for the end of the road just yet. Oh, and I think the boggart would probably change when I get older and have experienced the world more.
The World
9. What makes a person respectable?
Someone who tolerates other people and minds their own business. No, you do not have to accept everyone (I certainly don't), but every person does have as much write to exist as you. It's none of your business what others do in their spare time, or what they do in general, so don't worry your little self about it. Other than that, someone who stands up for what they believe in, goes out and gets what they want rather than waiting for it, and someone who isn't afraid to feel things (even if they hide their feelings most of the time).
10. Which of the basic elements do you identify with the most: Earth, Air, Fire, or Water?
This is a hard one for me. I identify with all of them, but Earth is probably what I identify with most. I tie it to being stable, and rooted, which is what I am. I feel connected to it because I live off of it, it provides stability of which human life exists off of. Yes, we need the other elements to live, but we'd be nothing without land.
11. Do you believe there can be a truly selfless act?
Hmm... Now that I think about it, no, there's no such thing as a selfless act. Even if you sacrifice yourself for another person, think about the real reason you'd do it. You'd do it so you wouldn't have survivor's guilt, that's why. People donate to charity and help other people because it makes *them* feel good. There's nothing wrong with this - it makes the world an easier place.
12. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose and why?
It wouldn't matter what city, just a big city. Right now I live in a big city and I can't really imagine life any other way. The country and suburbs are much too boring for me. In the city, you feel like you're a part of something bigger than yourself, something global. Also, the city pertains more to people like me, people who aren't into traditional things and who think outside the box. In the suburbs, where I used to live, I got shot down all the time for being somewhat odd, but in the city, everyone is so jaded, and no one bats an eye. I like that a whole lot more.
The Reader
13. Have you read all of the Harry Potter Books? If yes, which book is your favorite and why? If no, which book is your favorite so far and why haven't you finished the rest?
Oui, I've read them all. My favorite book is PoA. It's an interesting little interlude in the series that does it's own thing. I loved the entrance of the Marauders, they have such a fun backstory! I was also so happy for Harry because he finally had family that loved him, even if it was only his Godfather. Overall, I just think it was the strongest in the series.
14. Who is your favorite character in the HP series? Why?
While it's hard for me to pick out a single character as a favorite, I think overall the one who impacted me most is Sirius Black. He's portrayed as a loving man towards those who happened to win his heart, and I think my own heart goes out to him because his life was essentially wasted. He's a tragic figure who you can't help but feel bad for because he was left to rot in prison and then had so little time to enjoy life before his death. He showed compassion for fellow man but still had a lot of grit to him - I like
that.
Like I said, that was a hard question for me. Some close seconds : Snape, Neville Longbottom, Remus Lupin, Tonks and the three Black sisters.
15. Which character is your least favorite in the HP series? Why?
Such a hard question. I generally dislike Harry Potter himself. I also dislike Draco Malfoy, and his father is a nasty person too. When I really think about it, yeah, Draco takes the cake. He wasn't a very smart boy, and his attempts at harassing other people were pathetic. Anyone who devotes their own life just to making other's lives difficult is pathetic. This proves to me that he was very unsure in himself, and he was just a nasty person who I'd rather not like to know. Then again, I've known people like him, people just out to make others angry. While I was cordial with them as to not get too much on their rotten side (but who isn't?) I kept as far away as possible and out of their petty power struggles.
16. If you were a part of the HP series, what canon character(s) would you be friends with and why? Which character(s) do you think you would not get along with?
I think I'd be friends with Tonks. She's a woman after my own heart; an interesting individual who aspired high and is okay with tapping into her childish side. Also, she's an extrovert, and extroverts complement my introverted personality (just about all my real life friends are extroverted). I think she and I would have a lot of fun hanging out and painting the town red. I'd be friends with her because I love people who can have a good time.
17. Choose a quote from one of the HP books. ANY quote. Be sure to cite who said it and explain why it is your favorite.
Well I'm going to have to pick some of the saddest words; Snape's dying words and wish :
"Look..at..me.." he whispered.
Might be cliche, but it brings a tear to my eye. Love is such a powerful emotion and the fact that it was enough to practically change one man's way of thinking is so sad. The fact that his dying wish was to see the eyes of his love one last time is touching, and proved that everything he did, he really did it for her. That's such devotion. That's so sweet, but not in a syrupy way. I felt vindicated that Snape had good in him all along, love in him all along, as I had hoped he did.
Another that I would use, but can't, because it's not really a quote, is Voldemort's scream in DH. It shows he's not really big, bad, collected Voldie all the time. The fact that at the moment he realized his favorite Death Eater was dead he let his emotions (however repressed they are) take over him and flew off the handle. It showed a vulnerable side to him, the one that isn't completely maniacal and calculating, but rash and able to be hurt. It showed the break down that we've all waited to see. I'm kind of sad that was it, though.
So yeah, I guess that's a quote and a half. ; )
