OHKURA!
What is one song you remember listening to a lot from when you were a kid?
KAGUYA HIME’S ‘KANDAGAWA’ AND ‘
IMOTO’
when my family goes out, the stereo would be on and my parents would play their album. I especially remember these two songs clearly. at that time, I simply thought ah~ their nice. but after I grew up, I started playing the guitar and singing their songs. and I would sing it too at karaoke. its very nostalgic.. brings me back to when I was a child! their songs really express the feelings of Japanese in the past. they’re too good!
What is a song you remember from your school days?
OZAKI YUTAKA’S ‘SOUTSUGYOU’ (translates to: graduation)
ozaki-san! my dad listened to his album since I was young, and sang his songs at karaoke. I knew him from when I was real young.. but only started getting into him when I was in secondary school. eeeeveryone was listening to him. his songs were cool, and the lyrics spoke to us teenagers. he really expressed the uncertainty of teenage years in his songs.. ah and there’s his husky voice…
Whats an eito song that’s really etched into your mind now?
SONGS FROM THE SHIZUOKA TIMES
songs like ‘Eden’, ‘Heavenly Psycho’ and ‘All of me for you’.. all of them remind me of the same thing. we put all these songs in the CD, but we didn’t know if it was going to be released or not.. but we were singing these songs the whole time at lives so I really remember them. these are the songs that grew together with the fans that came and watch us. recently I’ve been wanting to write songs like these..
What songs do you want to introduce to a girl?
RED HOT CHILLI PEPPER’S SONGS!
I have an image that girls don’t really listen to rock songs.. especially band rock songs, they think its noisy.. thats fine as it is.. but instruments that are played in a band, how roles are delegated in bands, the romantic side of man in bands.. its interesting to know abit about these things. if they are interested, its got to be recchiri for them. taking note of playing techniques, and things like sound of the bass.. you might gain new insight upon the songs, right?
What songs have you been listening to recently?
songs by LADY ANTEBELLUM omggg ohkura, I love you for loving them!!
a band from America that has been nominated for the Grammys several times.. they’re super popular! I didn’t know all this when I started listening to their songs.. but I really love them! was it about half a year ago..? I bought their full album and was totally hooked on since then. me, I like refreshing songs. waking up in the morning, first thing I do it to play some songs. the songs I listen to first thing in the morning can decide my mood for the day. if its them, it’d definitely be in a good mood!
MARU
A song that changed your view in life?
MR CHILDREN’S ‘RUNNING HIGH’
During the Shizuoka period, I listened to this regularly and it really gave me energy. at that time, there was no one to tell my worries to, and it wasn’t anyone’s fault that things weren’t going well (they couldn’t fill the seats). their songs told me to gather up my energies, pick myself up, and move on. the messages conveyed in the song were strong, I really liked it. the melody has a punch to it too. they transform the various troubles I had into energy!
What is one song you remember listening to a lot from when you were a kid?
NAGABOUCHI TSUYOSHI’S
‘TONBO’ omg this song is Japanese?! this is 小虎队 红蜻蜓! aww this was a song from my childhood too.. the chinese version tho. Omg. I’m downloading it DD:
if it’s childhood period, its got to be this right? I loved the drama ‘tonbo’ too. while listening i’ll impersonate the sound of animals! in the show, his character used to have spoilt food for meals, but I thought he was really cool! (what…? I can’t really understand what he’s saying and there’s no info about this show anywhere!) during meal times at home I would make animal noises while eating and my parents lament ‘that’s rude!’, and get mad at me (laughs).
I guess the character in the show like, ate bad food and … made animal noises. (?)
What song do you remember from your teenage years?
YUZU’S ‘TOMODACHI NO UTA’
this song has relatively easy chords so I played and sang to it often in secondary school. my friend started playing the guitar so I went along with him and we started playing this often during lunch times and even during school festivals, singing this song and stuff. I remember playing yuzu and mr children on guitar a lot. till now listening to them still reminds me of schooling years.
.
What song of eito really stays in your mind?
‘TSUBUSA NI KOI’ AND ‘EIGHTOPOP!!!!!!!!!’
wait, I didn’t know this song existed :S its cute.
any song is fine, but a recent one would be tsubusa ni koi. I sing it a lot at karaokes. its has a straight, honest feeling. and then there’s EIGHTOPOP.. after TOPOP, he arranged a song that would suit eito, and thus made EIGHTOPOP! 365nichi kazoku’s coupling was good too. there’s not much solo parts in the song.. its really nice! these days I just like yasu’s compositions better and better~
What song would you use to serenade a girl?
I WOULD LIKE THE GIRL TO SING A SONG FOR ME
if the girl could choose a song that meets my song preference, that’d be good, no? if I really had to choose.. probably yuzu’s YUENCHI would be good? I could play the guitar and sing. but as expected, there won’t be the opportunity to do so right?
YASU
What song represents your teenage years?
YUZU’S SONGS
it started with ‘natsuiro’ and then ‘sayonara bus’.. I listened to them a lot. going into secondary school I started getting into GOING STEADY, MONGOL800, BACK DROP, BOMB, BRAHMAN. I was kinda into indie bands..
What is one song you remember listening to a lot from when you were a kid?
YAMAMOTO JOJI’S ‘TAKE TANBO’
his is probably the first album I’ve ever bought? I remember when I was about primary 4, I went to a second hand shop to buy the CD for my father, he liked them so much. we listened to it on the car.. and I remember thinking ah this is a good song~. another one would be Misora Hibari-san’s ‘
kawa no nagare no you ni’ (did she wrap a piece of napkin on her mic?! I like the way she goes, kawa no nagare no youuuuu~~~ ni) . these songs really are my roots, and until now I still sing them at karaoke. the first CD I ever got for myself was stuff like Ayumi Hamasaki’s ‘CAN YOU CELEBRATE’.. back in primary 6!
Which of eito’s songs is etched in your mind right now?
‘MY HOME’
the oldish feel of the song, the feel of the instruments, and the tune itself, its all good. (is it really an oldish kind of song? im ashamed to admit, I haven’t heard it :S) I didn’t think too much when I was recording the song but when all the member’s voices were put together, I thought ‘oooh this is a good song’. the music in between the verses are nice too.. I listen to it a lot at home.
If you were to decide your own theme song?
I always listen to TAKAHASHI YUU-SAN’S ‘FUKUWARAI’
I listen to songs online, and once in awhile I will come upon takahashi-san’s songs. ‘ahh I’m glad I knew him early on’ that’s what I think.. the melody is so good. and the lyrics is beautiful too. everyone, please listen to it! rather than saying when is good to listen to this song, listening to it anytime is fine. before you sleep, listen to takahashi-san please~
What song are you hooked onto now?
THE BAWDIES, they’re just cool!
recently I’ve been listening to THE BAWDIES. they’re a Japanese rock band of 4 people. if I were to say, simply, they are high tensioned. rock bands, they’re simply cool! I came upon them when I was surfing the net and I thought they were really good. eventually I ended up going for their concert too. listening to good music is like getting feedback about my own music.
HINA
Amongst the eito’s songs which leaves the deepest memory in you?
‘OSAKA OBACHAN ROCK’
‘what are the things osaka’s obachans will say, or do?’, ‘you think this will work?’, ‘give us some ideas for the lyrics!’ we were told.. ‘we have to come up with ideas for our own single.. have you ever heard of that?!’, that’s what I told them. we had to check up on the aruaru (like, facts and general knowledge stuff), coming up with lyrics with a kansai ben nuance that would suit the song’s melody wasn’t easy!
What song did you hear often as a kid?
CARPENTER’S ‘SEISHUN NO KAGAYAKI’ (its actually called ‘
I need to be in love’ I wonder why the English and Japanese title has no relation?)
my mum and dad listened to it a lot. And there’s was also The Eagles’ ‘HOTEL CALIFORNIA’. for ‘SEISHUN NO KAGAYAKI’ I didn’t know the title back then, only knew I heard it a lot when I was younger. the seniors in school used this song for their graduation, the brass band played it and all. I remember the basketball captain totally bawling his eyes out. because the practices were tough I huh~
What song are you in to at this moment?
KUBOTA TOSHINOBU’S ‘GOLD SKOOL’
I like them all~ from the start till the end of the album, they’re all the best! its impossible to make a choice~ I listen to it a lot when travelling on shinkansen, its really too cool. I like Kubota-san’s perspectives on things. to do things such as ‘this album is better than the previous one in OOO way’.. I can’t do it! they all have a rustic feel to them~
A song that represents your schooling years?
MR. CHILDREN’S ‘SEE~SAW~GAME~’
I got invited to karaoke by my friends and thought, ah I can’t have no song prepared! so I went to get a CD that everyone was listening to and practiced. that’s the first time I bought a CD on my own.. it’s a song everyone wants to sing so everyone shared the mic and sang together. at that time I don’t much feelings towards karaoke, what I will always remember is the feeling of singing together with all my friends.
and now if you were sharp, you'd have notice that hina's interview lacked a question.
*averts eyes* it didn't lack a question. i'm skipping it. because i can't for my life understand what he's saying.
*GOES AND HIDE AND CRY*
nah i'm just kidding, i wouldn't do that. but i hope you guys understand. i have no idea?! no idea at alllll. so yeah. I TRIED.
:D i hope this grin can redeem me :DDD
