first post of the year!

Jan 01, 2012 17:44

I am posting up two different articles today of very different natures. The first is a short one about ryo (written by shige) and the second one is a kinda essay-ish article. Its the most serious thing i've ever translated! its very refreshing, cause its not all silly and cheerful as usual.

(i don't know who this belongs to, but this was where the photo is from)

NISHIKIDO RYO’S 3 SECRETS! - as told my shige!

1. nishikido ryo is a gold group kinda guy!
nishikido-kun looks good with gold accessories
from my observations, nishikido-kun prefer gold accessories more than silver accessories! and he definitely has more of those. for me, I will pick silver and black ones more often, so seeing nishikido-kun in gold, I feel motivated (to also wear gold)! he had those accessory with the earth motif and I thought it was so fashionable.

2. nishikido ryo is a fractured-bones-guy!
i have heard about 20 times over that nishikido-kun has fractured his bone! (laughs)
nishikido-kun has a lot of experiences with fractured bones. many times, I’ve been told ‘so, y’know, I fractured a bone’ (laughs). he’s fractured his bone in the midst of a concert, during his butai he fractured his toe bone.. such factures, I think the members have seen at least 20 of them. in order to show your tough side, you must have a life filled with injuries like him.

3. nishikido ryo is an on time guy!
he gets mad when we aren’t on time!
nishikido-kun is really strict on time matters. he doesn’t really show up late for work and if other members do, he gets angry. ‘do it properly!’, he’d say. he was really scary (laughs). on the occasion he is late, ‘I’m sorry….’ he’d apologise properly. he’s a guy who treasures time.

during a recent interview, yoko has said that ryo is the kinda guy who beats himself up so bad when he’s late that no one can feel angry with him. hahah. of course, they way yoko said it, it was 10 times funnier (as usual)

and the second article, requested by mariapalitos68
a serious article about what they think make a 'cool guy'. before you guys read this, i need to apologise for the repetition of COOL all over the article, i don't know what other word i can use that adequately expresses 'kakkoi', so, GOMENASAI!

Now in the midst of their concerts, we hear from the front men of the band, kanjani eight, Shibutani Subaru and Nishikido Ryo about what they think makes a ‘cool man’.

baru: the coolest guy is often the one that isn’ cool!
When someone tries to act cool, or think of themselves that way, they often get the opposite effect. That’s why, those that don’t try to act cool are often those with the most charm I think. Having your own world view, having values that you will not let people take away.. They meet their own challenges while holding on to all those things. Starting out with the strongest motivation and passion for music, and then while holding on to these original passions, continue on with this path for 10s of years, I think that’s what is really amazing. Its so cool that, it seems rude of me to try to express it in words like that.

For the two of us, there has been many times where people are silently giving us support from the back,  and influencing us in many ways when it comes to music. But, its not that we want to become exactly like whoever influences us. Absorb their lessons, paying special attention to their actions, and then follow their manner in doing things? If you don’t make it your own, there’s no meaning in it. It’s like that for everything, I think. Listening to all kind of music and absorbing different elements from them, I reproduce them into my own words. Looking at the members of Kanjani eight, there are many of them who possess qualities that I don’t, that make me feel so envious (laughs). Stuff that makes me think, ‘oooh he’s good’ and ‘he’s cool’. But because I don’t possess those qualities, I can never be like someone else. I will live according to my own ways.

I don’t exactly have a reason or basis for saying this, I don’t really like attempting to look cool (laughs). I have a principle- so what if I don’t look cool? As long as I am comfortable, then everything’s fine. Regarding music, clothes, way of life, no matter what, as long as I’m comfortable, everything’s fine. Its not a theory or a way of living, I’m just living according to my reactions to things. Actually, its because I move according to my reaction, I’m unable to act spontaneously and unexpectedly, these things are important y’know (laughs)! I just can’t lie to myself or over react. To say it in an extreme way, while we’re living, we’re also dying. Isn’t that kind of troublesome (laughs)? I’m living with this idea in mind. (I think he’s trying to say that life is short and we should be honest and be who we are at all times)

In conclusion, trust yourself, and with that trust, move in the direction you wish to head towards. That way, no matter what the result may be, you’d have live your life in a cool way and in a way you’re comfortable with. In the future when you look back at your life, no matter how it turns out, you will be happy with it.

ryo: you’ll look cool if you work hard at a task!
Qualities of a ‘cool guy’ is someone who does his work seriously, someone who knows clearly what he likes and dislikes. If the job he holds is an area he likes and is interested in, then that’s real good. But in contrast, if the job he holds is something he hates, being able to work hard and keep at it- that’s really cool.

Other than when I’m at work, I don’t think about trying to look cool (laughs). I think sense is very important. At lives and at filmings, having a good sense of wit and effect (for audiences), isn’t that the best? For the sake of wit and effect, having to act silly with all your might is totally alright and is quite cool, right?

Also, people who has lots of knowledge is also so cool! I co-starred with Sakai Masato-san (the one who looks like maru). He’s someone who seems to know everything, and everything you ask him, he seems to have the answer for. I want to become such a person… Upon learning something new, being able to immediately remember it and change your own wrong ideas about it.. I admire people like that (laughs)! And then, when making choices about stuff, sometimes, without thinking, we choose what we think is the coolest option. But a real cool guy will properly weigh his options and think of the real value of the objects before choosing. For example, when it comes to clothes, we shouldn’t choose according to the brand but according to what looks good on you. I really want to be this kind of person, too.

Well in the end, I think we can’t live with the idea that ‘I want to be cool’. Isn’t that tiring? If we just be who we are and be natural about it, that in itself is charming. No matter what other say about you and how other view you, being uncompromising and unchanging is cool. When I look at people I admire, I think I too, have the potential to become like them. As long as I stick to my principles.. I’m still young so, with age and experience, I might get there some day right?

lastly,
