We've recently watched a couple not so recent films for the first time...( mild spoilers )

I pretty much agree on both counts.

King Kong in particular needed to get to the awesome giant ape a lot faster, and to stop fussing about the life of Jimmy the cabin boy.

Aw, but the Kong vs T-Rexes fight is the best part!!

It was good but overlong, I am sure they could have cut a minute or five from a couple of those sequences.

In honesty though I still think the best part of that film was Jack Black's performance. If only because it showed he can actually act and isn't just a comic buffoon.

King Kong is Too Long. Saw it for the second time whilst on holiday, lounging around some hostel in Buenos Aires. Couldn't believe how ludicrously long it was. By the time you get to the final act it has already been three hours or so.

Heh I say another version of King Kong recently in a Childrens Cartoon. 30 minutes.
