....of FMA.
And it is
AMAZING
I mean just. seriously. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS CHAPTER. So amazing. From Greed's "first and last lie" to Ling in order to sacrifice himself to protect him, to the Homunculus's demise, and Ed finally calling Hohenheim "dad".
And then there's Ed in the Gate to get Al back. I mean just. Wow. SO MUCH wow. HERE HAVE A SMALL TRANSLATION:
Truth: What is the price?
Truth: Will you give your flesh?
(Ed walks up to the big gate)
Ed: The price is right here.
Ed: It's big enough.
(Truth comments on it being the source of alchemy's power, and that Ed would lose that ability if he gave it up)
Truth: ...it is all right for you to give up this?
Ed: Even without alchemy, I still have everyone.
(Truth smiles)
Truth: That's right, alchemist.
Truth: You've won against me.
Truth: Take everything, and go.
....seriously you guys ED BEAT TRUTH. ED BEAT TRUTH. BEST END
Arakawa is amazing. ;_;
And not to mention the epilogue!! Which makes up most of the second half of the chapter, and ties things up pretty nicely indeed. And Ed is still a dork.
Oh AND ALSO ahh Al's explanation of defying the principle of equivalent exchange!! After all the things everyone did for them, Ed and Al want to pass the favor on to others, but not just as "equivalent exchange". As Al puts it: "[equivalent exchange] the same as receiving 10, and only giving away 10... If we receive 10, we'll increase it by 1, and pass 11 on to the next person. It's small, but it's a 'new law to negate equivalent exchange' that we came up with." So very yes.
Also ahhh the pictures at the end. Yoki and some of the chimeras in a circus, Den with puppies!!1, Roy's apparently climbed to the rank of General already with Hawkeye still by his side, and looks like Ed/Winry is canon.
Overall, a very satisfactory ending, if I do say so myself.
