I suck at Battlefield 2

I suspect that some of my problem hinges on my long experience with the ol' mouse-and-monitor, as opposed to console controller-and-TV. One is just more precise than the other, and perhaps only someone who cuts their gaming teeth using consoles can really excel on them.

Even if you were born with a PS2 controller shoved up your ass, I still fail to see how in the hell a gamepad can replace a mouse/keyboard combo for an FPS. I don't think I'd be able to hit the broad side of a barn using a gamepad.

Certainly, playing games with friends is fun no matter what the outcome, but getting repeatedly sodomized by anonymous 17 year olds with names like "USuxMi P Ness" gets fucking old very fucking fast.

Methinks you've forgotten about CounterStrike.

Perhaps my memory is simply colored by my attitudes, then. Perhaps I really didn't do any better at online PC games than online console games? Perhaps I sucked at PC games as well, but I actually had fun doing it?

If someone is running at a relatively constant speed, relatively perpendicular to your line of fire and relatively (well ok, VERY) far away, you can actually move your stick to 'set' your gunsight to move just slightly faster than the guy you're aiming at, catch up with him, and back off a bit so that it's moving pretty much exactly the same speed he is. You can't do that very easily at all with a mouse ( ... )
