I once drove to burning man with elly. It was a mellow trip filled with much discussion and coffee (no evil robots).

ps: swinney would make a great hardware shop owner.

i think that my subconscious employs elly as a metaphor for that part of myself that is idealistic. simon is a symbol for food-family-love. and austin is material success, or, maybe, my competition with other males ( ... )

I think internal conflict is good...you need it every now and then to grow.

Maybe living in a large urban environment isn't the easiest place for someone who is driven to work with their hands/heart, but I'm a firm believer in that there's always opportunity. The age-old challenge for creative peeps is that you're always swimming upstream...just start thinking of it as carving out your own life, work, love. ;-)

hey! :D where ya been?

I too have had a few austin dreams but I have not met him. In one, he was a captain of a cruise ship near Vanuatu.

Germz, that assortment of tools you have there is exciting! What an excellent collection. What are all those ones there? Chisels and malletts?

austin appeared as a tug boat captain in someone else's dream, a few years ago. hmmm.

am I missing something? I get no hover-text. like a hover-craft, but more wordy.

I'm having strange strange dreams too, but not about those people, nor online people. most of the time they're nonsensical and don't revolve around people I know, but I keep having recurring dreams about someone I work with, which is making things weird for me at work.

especially as I don't fancy him, but in my dreams, I seem to.

I'm glad you're well, though. I've missed your updates.

...it's just the jpegs' "alternate text," defined in the img tag, by the alt attribute. hmmm.

Yeah, I know what they are, they're just not showing up for me. Must be a Safari thing, though normally it has no issues. Anything else was just a bit of late-night silliness.

Maybe the swinney.org switch to hardware store symbolizes creative outlets being taken away or drained dry as people try to one-up each other? Every once in a while, especially late at night, I'll load swinney.org and it's been hacked by the Olsen Twins.

I don't know if I've ever told you this, but you're a handsome devil.

Hi,
I've locked myself out of lj, but couldn't resist catching up on a few friends. Dreams are odd, but that is what makes them so marvellous. That and the hope that they might mean something.
Yeah for compost and red wine with family!
Keep living your dream, not the American dream.

Hi,

The whole don't-check-lj is only working moderately well...I'll be sending you my Machiavelli soon. Thesis is coming along nicely (most people will find it dull, but I am trying to slip in diversions for the reader) and supervisor keeps on asking discomforting questions about what I am going to do next.

I re-read part of your paper just then, I really like this:

A philosopher who, in speech or in text, openly called into question the most fundamental beliefs of his community or “city” would rightly be regarded with suspicion. But, maybe, the more dangerous man would be the one who asked his questions in secret - in the confidence of his fellow conspirators. And, maybe, the most dangerous man of all would be the one who attempted to prevent questions from being asked, for fear of having his valuations contested.Ok so quoting something back to the person who wrote it is a little odd...esp. if I just leave it as 'like'...but there is no space here ( ... )
