MOTO
----

May 5, 2006, I turned 10,000 miles on the motorcycle's odometer. I have owned the bike less than 8 months - the "bad" months for riding, in Chicago. I have started to build a KLR650 maintenance page, here: http://germz.org/klr650/maintenance.html

herzog's personification of nature is just as myopic as treadwell's...if nature has any of those characteristics (good, bad, dark, light, etc), it has all of those characteristics.

thank you for taking the time to read, and write.

yep. i found that both herzog and also treadwell left me unsatisfied - when they waxed philosophic.

but, it was herzog who upset me: he controlled the manner in which the material was presented. herzog commented - disparagingly - upon treadwell. how could treadwell hope to respond - from the grave? herzog seemed (foolishly) to be quite self-satisfied, diagnosing treadwell's philosophic errors as though he, himself, was some sort of superior metaphysician.

i will return to your most recent entry, and read it again. if you'd consider sharing some of the your academic writing, that would be cool.

herzog definitely bats last, and it sticks in my throat a bit as well. the film would stand up fine without his personal input on the morality of nature.

i've considered posting my academic writing online, and this summer would probably be the time to do it. you can find a pdf of my snyder paper here, if you're interested.

thanks, chris.

i've saved the pdf as a text file, on a disc, to take home.
i'll read it tonight.

also: lj user "joybon" has posted some academic writing, recently. i'm taking that to read, too. the two of you are working at things from a different perspective - i think.

academic is "friends only" stuff, just making the connection, in case either/both of you have time/interest in more reading. probably not, thinking upon my own academic schedule. but, just in case, i've left a link back in that lj, to this entry.

cheers,
p.
