i've been putting my time, money and energy into something else.
...late night weirdness (below) begins:
a lazy man does nothing; too, he wastes nothing.
an artist, composer or writer invests his time, money and energy; but maybe it's all wasted.
so that from a certain perspective it's worse to be creative than it is to be an ordinary bum: if no one sees/hears your work, they'll write you off as lazy, while you spend yourself working on something that breaks you...
so, yeah, it's late, i've had a few, and i'm thinking about the parallels between the creative act, graduate school, and relationships: these things that require you to invest something of yourself - with no certain return.
maybe, from a certain perspective, we're not hippes, but rather "Randian" capitalists of the highest order. haha.
