With some apologies to Damien Hirst, I had another idea for a set of mood icons. An obvious gag, but each specific reference is so obscure that anyone who sees the list might only recognize one or two. A lot of work for those odds, but I suppose that's the fun of it ( Read more... )

They're in there too somewhere, but extremely generic. For some reason, Livejournal doesn't include "date-rapey" on their mood list.

It got a bit away from me at some point - I actually found myself getting upset at the possibility I might have to settle for Canadian versions on a couple, because I couldn't locate domestic references!

oh my god that fucking ROCKS. though I'm not sure that you'd actually be able to put them up... I think all these companies might have appearance patents on their pills.

the valium, ativan, and ambien are particularly faithful representations. don't ask how i know that.

if you do put this one up you might put up a page with a key that says what each pill is.

I worried about that too. All the names are fudged and they're clearly satire - but then again, I also considered something like your last suggestion and opted against it for this very reason. Its tricky, because the whole joke is their recognizability.

The thing is, I can't FTP into Livejournal's servers. The files have been sent to the person who is in charge of mood themes, but I think there's a bit of a backlog, and I'm sure the person who ends up getting the job won't be too happy to see that some idiot actually made 131 seperate icons, when the nested listing makes it totally unecessary. It's just makes that much more work for them.

If you're that impatient, though, I think there's a way that you can use the icons in the meantime, before they become public. Since all of them are already up on my website (I couldn't afford the traffic if tons of people did this, but you certainly may) you can assign your moods to draw the gifs directly from my server. The instructions are here. The images are at:

Each one has the right name, and the mood numbers are available here. Each icon requires a seperate command to be sent to Lj, though, so setting it up won't be much fun. I'm currently inbetween paid accounts, so even if I wanted to do it myself, it's ( ... )
