a/n: this is what i'd like to call a long drabble. also, please know that i'm actually a big fan of f.cuz. i love those guys and it honestly upsets me how they're not that popular. that's pretty much what sparked this fic
“Why did they even bother releasing new songs?”
“They should have just stayed in Taiwan.”
“Nobody likes them to begin with.”
Jinon sighed as he closed the laptop. He had read enough. It wasn’t like these sorts of comments were shocking and new. He had read and heard them all before. They were flops. Their Korean debut had failed so they fled to Taiwan, hoping for more success there. Just because he’s been hearing these things for months didn’t make it hurt any less though.
Jinon looked around the practice room. He watched silently as Kan sat in the far corner, headphones around his neck while he scrolled through his iPod. Jinon turned his gaze to Yejun and Lee U who were sitting together, Lee U pulling Yejun’s recently dyed hair into pigtails as the maknae laughed. Jinon sighed once again. These were his groupmates, the three people he had trained and struggled alongside for years, all hoping to one day debut and become idols loved by all. Well, they had debuted…but they hadn’t exactly gotten the results they had dreamed of.
They never talked about it. Never complained about the lack of love from their home country. It was easier to pretend it wasn’t there, to just stay overseas; they had plenty of international fans. Nevertheless, there were times where Jinon couldn’t ignore it. Times where netizens’ comments circled around in his head, repeating themselves over and over. Times where he felt like a failure, or worse, a failure as a leader.
But then there were times, just like today, when Lee U would catch Jinon’s eye. He’d look across the practice room to where Jinon would be sitting and he’d offer the leader one of his signature eye-smiles before turning his attention elsewhere. Jinon would know that thee smiles weren’t the same as the ones Lee U would give the cameras and the fans though. These smiles were meant just for him. They told him that no matter what, they were happy. They were doing what they had always dreamed of and Jinon had helped them all along the way.

Even though there are times where Jinon feels like breaking under the pressure and just giving up, he knows he never will. He’d stay in F.Cuz forever, just as long as he gets to see those smiles every day.
