Latest Entry into the Hunter story line. Working on possibly restarting it thatnks to my divorce, or maybe as a result of it. Anyways, enjoy.
“Braaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnssssssssss….” A zombie cried out on the big screen. It was going after a couple of lusty teenagers at a summer camp for rich kids.
“Why can’t we get rid of this fucker, Bastion?!?” The girl yelled out, as the zombie edged closer to their hiding spot. The girl was young, buxom, and blonde, typical type casting for a horror film.
Bastion was a typical jock, overly muscled and not very intelligent looking. “Well Porsche, I’m not sure, maybe he’s just looking to get into your pants like I am.”
“Oh Bastion, not at a time like this, but okay.” The girl, Porsche, replied, as she started to take off her top, revealing a braless large chest.
“Now that’s what I’m talking about!” A teenager whispered to his friend in the audience. The teenager, a tall kid with long brown hair, was smiling as the girl slowly stripped on screen.
“Dude, c’mon, they’re not even real.” His friend replied, a shorter chap with curly black hair.
“Ace, Kevin, hush!” A girl friend of theirs hushed them, as she blushed at their comments. She was an extremely attractive girl with short blue-shaded hair. She threw popcorn at the two, and then returned to watching the teenage couple onscreen make out.
“Kat, c’mon, you can’t tell me those aren’t real. I mean---“ Ace, the taller teenager tried to say, before his mouth was held close by an invisible force. He raised an eyebrow toward Kevin. “Mind knocking that off, or do I have to discuss this telepathically?”
The three turned their attention to the screen, and watched as the zombie found the stark naked teenagers, and quickly turned them into zombie food. The three teens were trying to enjoy a weekend off from fighting, as they were teenager superheroes, trying to protect their friends and families from GenCorp and their minions.
Ace was the leader of the group. His powers mainly consisted of being able to raise his physical attributes to near impossible levels, as well as anyone near him. He also had above human strength, constitution, and agility, as well as rapid healing. His body also had bones made of a near indestructible metal, as well as granting him a set of 3 extendable foot long claws on each hand.
Kevin was the group’s silent but powerful member. He had telepathic abilities, mostly being able to send and receive messages from people he wanted to connect with, as well as being able to do simple scans of the minds around him, similar to radar. He also had super-speed that he often didn’t employ, simply because it used up too much energy. And he also possessed telekinesis, although it could only lift as much as he could physically.
Kat was Kevin’s girlfriend and the group’s strongest fighter. She had incredible powerful physical stats, almost being near-invulnerable with limitless strength. Her main power came from having almost all martial art knowledge in her brain, making her unrivaled in that form of combat. She also could read an opponent and figure out their manner of attack, making her extremely potent at counterattacking. She also became physically stronger, tougher, and faster the more she fought in combat.
They called themselves the Hunters simply because they wanted to hunt down those who gave them these powers, but wanted to use them for militaristic take-overs and conflicts, something none of them wished to do unless it was absolutely necessary.
They had spent the past year and a half defending their school, friends, and family from GenCorp and its servants. They had been exposed to the public, but it was covered up by Ace’s parents and Kevin’s telepathic abilities. They had even had to face clones of themselves that were nearly ten times more powerful, but with help from an angelic friend, they succeeded in defeating them. But it wasn’t without sacrifice. Their angelic friend died finishing the battle with Ace’s clone, sealing the clones away in hell. They also had to go to funerals of several friends that had been captured by GenCorp and used in a secret war, only to die in that war. They had been through a lot over the year and a half.
“I can’t believe the couldn’t figure out how to kill the zombies. I mean, they could have easily made it back to the counselor’s cabin and closed the mystical tome.” Ace commented about the movie, as the trio headed out from the dark theatre.
Kevin smirked. “You can say it’s easy, but c’mon, that summer camp was on top of a Indian burial ground. They’d have never made it to the cabin. I think the ending proves that.”
Ace pointed a finger at his friend. “If we ever have to face zombies or wade through an undead army, we could take ‘em.”
“Of course we could take them, we’ve got superpowers. I mean, Kevin by himself could just telekinetically slice their heads off. End of story.” Kat chimed in. “Now you and me would have to be careful, since we’re both up-close fighters.”
“Maybe you’d have to be careful. I’ve got rapid healing and as far as I know, I’m immune to disease, and since most zombies are created through disease infected bites, I’d be fine.” Ace said confidently.
Kevin laughed. “Um, Ace, that depends. Some zombies are created through scientific means, such as chemicals. Others are mystical. So it’d just depend on their manner of creation.” He sighed. “Still, I highly doubt we’d ever have to face zombies.”
“We’ve faced vampires, werewolves, killer robots, genetically altered humans in the form of monsters, genetically altered humans not akin to us, and normal humans in powersuits. Zombies could definitely be added to the list.” Ace countered, counting out their battles on his hands.
“Guys, can we not discuss this now, and discuss dinner? I’m starving.” Kat interrupted the conversation, as the three made it to Ace’s car, the Monster.
“Sakura’s?” Ace asked, as he pulled out his keys.
“Japanese again? Can’t you think of anything else?” Kat grumbled. They had been eating at Ace’s favorite restaurant recently, since he was the driver of the group.
“Chinese?” Ace suggested. Both Kevin and Kat grumbled at that. “What? Can’t a guy like fine Asian cuisine?”
Brookland-Cayce High School was a fine educational complex, rebuilt by GenCorp after a fire claimed the original building. Unbeknownst to students, teachers, and neighbors, the complex was actually built so that GenCorp could keep track of the many students there that were part of the secret Gen Project. They also allowed the students who excelled in science to use high tech labs, many of whom would go on to join GenCorp and give their projects over to the company.
Tom West was one of those students. He was incredibly smart when it came to chemistry and biology, being ranked as one of the top students in the nation. He was not part of the Gen Project, but his father was, being one of the doctors who perfected the injection process, which made the Gen4s like Ace Micheals more powerful than the previous versions, the Gen3s like Raven.
West, as he went by, was a shy and withdrawn student. He didn’t have many friends, even among the other science students. Many felt that he was too creepy, with his thoughts on bringing tissue back to life and his obsession with dead bodies. Some even made rumors that he liked to things sexually with dead bodies, but that was far from the truth.
West had perfected bringing dead tissue back to life. The mice that some students used for experimentation were brought back with his serum, which he jokingly called ‘Reanimator Fluid’ off a popular horror and zombie film. He liked to laugh to himself when he saw others using his undead mice. No one could tell a difference. They had no visible side effects, and because the mice rarely showed intelligence, no one would suspect when the mice didn’t do exactly what they were supposed to.
West wanted to test it on human tissue, but was afraid. He didn’t want to dig up a corpse to test on, preferring to use a body that had recently died. He surmised that if he used it on a corpse that had been embalmed or buried for a long time would probably not be able to handle the serum or would not be able to handle being back in the living world. But a fresh corpse, someone who had died recently and never had the cleaning fluid in them, well they would probably think they just had been sleeping.
West was in his lab desk working on a homework assignment from his biology teacher. It wasn’t a difficult assignment, just lengthy. He heard someone enter the lab room, and he looked up to see a blonde girl that he had classes with. It was Georgia Salvini, another biology student. She usually went by George because of her parents. She was a slacker in West’s eye, as she just skated by in class, with no real ambition. The only thing the two had in common was a somewhat fascination with death.
George spotted West, and smiled as she walked over to him. “Hey West, I enjoyed your demonstration yesterday on cell division in dead mammal tissue. I had no idea that sometimes the cells continued to divide like that.” She tried to get his attention.
Hardly looking up, he replied, “Hair and fingernails continue to grow afterwards, so technically cells still divide. I just didn’t like the explanation found in the text book.”
George sighed. “Still, I liked it.” She looked around at his desk, and then slumped in a chair near him. “Any luck with your ongoing ‘death’ project? Been hearing a lot of rumors that you may have created some zombies.”
West looked up at her. “Rumors you say? Who…who might have told you?” No one should even know about his project, except the teacher. West frantically searched his memory for any conversation about it with anyone, but couldn’t come up with one.
“Romero and Pegg have said they saw with a zombie in the cemetery the other day. And that you’ve been using the lab to create an army to take over the school.” She explained, a slight smile on her face. She had a crush on West, and was just messing with him. “I’m kidding. No one’s even been talking about you and death or zombies. I’m just messing with you. You need to lighten up.”
West smirked. “You should take your own advice. What was the grade you got on the last test, a C? C’mon, this advance biology, not simple biology for idiots. How did you even get in this class?”
The comments stung a bit. “Hey, I’m smart, maybe not your smart, but smart enough. I like to take my time and I don’t study because it’s not fun. Besides, I only got in this class because of you dummy.” She reached out to touch his face, but he instinctive shrunk away.
“As much as I consider you a fellow student, I’m not into your womanly charms, Georgia. I knew you liked me, but I’m not interested right now. School, labs, my project. Those are the things I love and care about, not you.” West angrily said, as he stood up. “Please leave.”
George stood up, and slapped him. “Fine. Be a virgin the rest of your life. Here I was foolishly thinking that I could throw myself at you and maybe have a good time. But no, you had to throw it away because you only care about science. Well I’m science. I’m biology. I’m a living creature capable of many things, including giving you a good time. But screw you West, screw you and your stupid fucking experiments! I hope one day you create your zombie army or what not, and they freaking eat you! You hear me, I HOPE THEY FUCKING EAT YOUR BRAINS YOU FUCKING SELFISH PRUDISH PRICK!!” And with that, she stormed out of the room.
West sat back down, grumbled a bit, and returned to his work.
“You know what I like about slasher films? Blood and boobs. You hardly ever see a movie with just one of those.” A large, crew-cut headed blonde teen said to a smaller leather-jacketed one. The large one was named Hammerstien, and was a major football star at Brookland-Cayce. He was also a Gen4, having the ability to increase his mass and strength, becoming a mammoth of a man. He was a notorious bully, and even did small jobs for GenCorp when needed.
“That was only during the 80s you twit. These latest movies just let us have young bouncy breasts in tight shirts, nothing titillating, if you get my drift. Hell, even that cave movie with all chicks, no tits what’s so ever.” The leather-jacketed teen replied. He was short, compared to Hammerstien, but was still short. He had greasy long black hair that he hardly ever combed or put in a pony tail. He always wore his leather-jacket, a black biker jacket with flames patched at the shoulders. He, too, was a Gen4, going by the nickname “Stifle”, as he had the power to heat up a small area around him, causing there to a be a lack of air. He also could create small flames around his fists, but could never throw them or create firejets like some pyrokenetic users could.
The two were standing around the parking lot of a convenience store. They had been there for most of the day, dealing out drugs and just hanging out, despite the clerks inside insisting that they didn’t.
“Oh yeah, we did see that movie. Yeah, I hated not seeing any tits in that.” Hammerstien responded, looking around at the passing cars. He spotted a car that he knew belonged to a hated enemy. He started to walk over toward a sewer opening, and he quickly increased his size to pick the cover out. Reaching back, he quickly threw it at the passing car.
“Okay okay so you mean to tell me that if you were caught in a room with a doctor and you had to kill him or he needs to kill you to escape, that you would kill him?” Kevin asked of Ace, as they headed towards their hideout, a stretch of forest near their high school.
“Hell yeah. My survival verses his. Besides, I’m younger. I think that doctor was like 40-ish, so he had lived a useful life.” Ace explained. “And besides, if I were busted for murdering him, I would chalk it up to being terrorized into doing it.”
Kat laughed. “You have some messed up morals Ace.”
“Hey, you’re not the one with metallic claws in your arms and a penchant for inflicting grievous wounds on people. I mean, sure you could easily decapitate someone with your hands or feet, but me, I have to restrain myself, even though part of me wishes sometimes to let it all loose, give into the anger and rage I feel inside.” Ace explained.
“That’s why he keeps me---“ Kevin didn’t get to finish, as a large metallic object slammed into the side of the car.
Ace immediately hit the brakes, sending his two passengers forward a bit. He pulled off the road, and got out to inspect the damage, but he had a hunch that he had enemies around. Looking at the door near Kevin, he found a sewer cover imbedded into it. “Kevin, find ‘em.”
“No need, right here!” A voice growled out, clocking Ace hard in the jaw, and sending him flying a bit down the street.
As Ace flew back, he turned to see Hammerstien and Stifle attacking Kevin and Kat. He adjusted himself as he came down, landing on his two feet, and launching himself quickly back towards the car. His claws extended out as he neared the large figure of Hammerstien, who was pulling Kevin forcefully from the car.
“Nice to see you again Kat, what you too good to hang out with us and not these two dorks?” Stifle asked, as his hands flamed up. He threw a punch toward her, but she responded by ducking, grabbing his arm, elbowing him in the chest, and then flinging him to the ground over her shoulder.
“Nah, I just can’t stand greasers.” She responded, before punching him in the head, knocking him out.
Kevin was trying to kick his way out of Hammerstien’s grip, since he was immune to mental powers. “Do you get uglier each time we see you?”
“You’re funny little man-“
“-But not as funny as these bitch!” Ace interrupted the large punk, as he stabbed Hammerstien in the sides. Hammerstien dropped Kevin, as he tried to grab toward Ace. His large size made it a bit hard to do, especially as Ace pushed his claws deeper. Luckily for the large guy, his body healed the damage instantly, but it still hurt. Ace knew this, increasing his strength even higher. He then lifted him up above his head, and then threw him into the restrooms in the nearby park.
“Nice throw.” Kevin commented, as he got up from being thrown down by Hammerstien. “I see what you mean about using your claws.”
“He heals faster than I can damage him, or so I’m come to figure out. But it still hurts to have them inside him. Anyways, I guess these guys wanted to have some fun with us.” Ace responded, looking at the unconscious body of Stifle on the ground. Kat was walking towards them.
“How’s the car?” She asked, looking at the Monster.
“Typical damage. Hammerstien threw a manhole cover at the passenger door, if you can’t tell. He also ripped the door off to get to Kevin. Luckily I’m used to repairing the damn thing.” Ace replied, sounding a bit angrily.
“I think I’m just bad luck in the car. Remember that one time-“
“HEADS UP!” Kat yelled, interrupting Kevin. A white u-shaped object was being thrown rapidly towards them. Kat jumped in the way and deflected it skyward, her strength almost incredibly high.
“Was that a toilet seat?” Ace asked, as he looked into the sky. He then turned to see Hammerstien barreling towards them. “Hold that thought.” Winding up his first, Ace increased his strength exponentially, and then clocked Hammerstien hard in the nose. The large teen flipped twice in the air, before landing hard back in the bathroom.
“And he’s out!” Kevin declared, getting a decent read on Hammerstien. Through out their numerous battles with him, Kevin found that he could read the brute’s mind only when he was asleep or unconscious from a fight.
“He might want his teddy bear.” Ace added, as he picked up Stifle’s body and then tossed him over the street, into the hole Hammerstien had made, and next to Hammerstien’s body.
“You have the worst lines, Ace.” Kat commented, as she picked up the car door. “Ladies first honey.” She motioned towards Kevin, who laughed as he entered the car. “Think you can hold it till we get to the garage.”
“For you, sure.” Kevin replied, as he used his telekinesis to hold the door in place. Both Kat and Ace got in the car, and Ace drove off.
A few minutes later, the toilet seat Kat had deflect high in the sky returned a few hundred feet further, crashing down in the parking lot of Brookland-Cayce.
