Buses Welcome

I may have some new readers. Keef linked to me from his blog. As if anyone could tear their cursors away from his glorious site.

Hi, I'm Aaron, and welcome to my LiveJournal. I don't update this much (yet), mostly because I am not sure what to reveal and what should stay on the down low. Nearly anyone's blogging dilemma.

I have never met Keef, but he and I share a friend in Irv/Ving (Irving). I believe I met Irving in '89, at the Friends General Conference (FGC) gathering, held that year in Canton, NY.1 I've seen and hung out with him at every gathering I've attended ('96, '99, '01, '02). Irving introduced me to Keef during a Yahoo! Spades game. I've felt the (online) aura of Keef's love ever since, and it's CHANGED MY LIFE FOR THE BETTER.

I have been to Scattergood and West Branch, IA, once, in March '93, during Earlham's spring break. I was horribly misinformed by my travel agent as to where the best party scene would be that year. Or I was brought there by a fellow Earlhamite (Laurel, who lived at Scattergood) while on my way to stay with Grandma and visit other relatives in Granger, IA. I was hoping to visit Irving briefly during my first Iowa trip this year (more on the 2nd in another post), but only got as far as the Amana Colonies' I-80 exit and was also unable to reach him to let him know I was nearby. (read my 1st trip's story here).

1The FGC gathering is a yearly gathering of Quakers of the unprogrammed worship (silent, without ministers) tradition. More at their Web site. Nearly all you need to know about Quakerism is linked to here.
