Noooooo, not at all! Haven't you ever seen the ones they bring back from the surface, the ones that've gone mad out there? I mean... well.

Calm down a bit, girl!

The sun. If you're exposed to it for long, it can really damage you. It can cause you to start seeing things that aren't there; it can drive you mad. It saps all your strength and makes you drowsy, and if you stay out there too long it'll kill you--'least, if you don't die first, sand-walker's sure to find you, and then it's all over.

I'll consider it the Maiden's blessing that the other sun isn't out, as well... that just makes it all happen faster.

I'm okay personally, but a bit worried about the state of my mental health if I'm out here too long! I mean, I know the searchers can stay out for a bit over a couple days, but I don't want to chance it myself. I don't even have the ka'a!

Well, of course not. Not only am I a woman, but I'm not of age to go to the surface. I'd rather stay below and work, anyways.

Have you stayed out too long in the sun? You must have, if you don't even know who the Maiden is. You know--creator of the worlds, giver of life, bestowed upon the Creators the power of summoning water so that we wouldn't all die?

...actually, yes. Yes, we are underground dwellers.

Although only a couple Desuyans have pale skin--most have skin a lot more conditioned to the suns. That doesn't mean that the suns won't kill you, though! Plenty people have gone stark mad in the heat and sands...

Yes, on both counts. The entire planet is barren desert--so trust me when I say that the suns can do a lot of harm.
