Ginger Donàu has her own canon. To explain a little, I've provided a short reference here. :3 Just if you want to know. 8D

Information on Desuya

☀ The World
Desuya is one of eight planets orbiting a binary star. Most are not of any importance, but one, a black planet called--guess it--Nemesis, can sometimes be seen from Desuya's surface. Desuya was once a "perfect" place to live--its climate was just right for life, and the people were happy. However, the orbit of Desuya was shifted just slightly and its climate changed drastically; it turned into a desert wasteland, and the people had to escape underground. The winds picked up, and the frequency of sandstorms increased. Nowadays, only the men go aboveground when necessary (and only the men, very strictly), but for the most part, people live their lives underground.

☀ Hierarchy of Power
Desuya is governed by a council of elders, led by Sialen LeDrüne. Below them, the eight Summoners of the village hold power, and below them, the men. However, things are so set in their ways already that there is little use for most of these powers-there’s not exactly much that can be done to change how Desuya is run, so they avoid the problems of war and rebellion.

☀ Religion
Desuyans believe in a woman called the Maiden, who is said to have created the worlds and their various countries. The Maiden is the creator of everything, and is also said to have taught the original Creators how to use magic and summon water to provide for her people. They <3 the Maiden.

The Creators are a group of eight men who, having deduced that it was getting worse by the year to live on the surface, summoned a mighty show of ground magic and opened up the ground and moved everything beneath. Then, when all of the people had followed the path below, they moved under themselves and sealed the ground after them, creating a “ceiling” of rock and earth that protects Desuya from the elements above. Afterwards, they summoned water for the people, and it is said that when they died, they joined the Maiden as a sort of “saint.” It is from them that the current Summoners learn their mastery of water, and due to them that the Desuyan people owe their entire existence.

☀ Summoners & the Summoning
Summoners are extremely important in Desuya. They are what keeps life going, they are the source of water for the town. Whenever one of the Summoners dies, the spirit of the Creator that had been “possessing” (I say that, but it’s not quite possession. X3;) him is freed and selects a new Summoner from the rest of the populace. These spirits have two forms-one is their normal human form, which the Summoner is, in general, unaware of. The other is known as a ‘water-creature,’ and is quite similar in form to that of an Asian dragon, minus the limbs, and is made entirely of water and appears to be about an aqua-green colour. The water-creature manifests itself whenever a water spell is meant to produce large masses of water, such as during a Summoning.

A Summoning is exactly what it sounds like-the eight Summoners and the rest of the town gather in the main square. The Summoners bring forth the water-creatures, a watery representation of the Maiden presents herself, and afterwards, reservoirs are full once more of water.

☀ Women's Life in Desuya
Although Desuya is advanced in many ways (technology and medicines being two examples), they are still behind in women's rights. Women are not permitted to go aboveground. Because they do not go above, they are also not permitted to attend the boys' training academy, which is an intense two-year long "school" that teaches attendees various forms of combat, as well as offering classes in honing magical power. As times change, more and more find these laws unfair, but it is unlikely that anything will be changed in the near future. One girl in particular, Celphrine Kidàren, has been particularly outspoken about this issue.
