What is good and what is evil?

As much as I hate to sound like everyone else, Evil is a question of intent behind the thought or the action.

In the week since it got around the town I live in at the moment that I am something of a 'witch' (I prefer the term 'mage' as 'witch' in Faerûn has less than flattering conotations unless it is refering to Rashmeni magic users) some books have come through the store I run that have names akin to those you have mentioned - Kockturn Alley, some place called Diagon Alley, some with recommendations from this 'Ministry of Magic'.

If you have the time correspond with me, sir, I would greatly apreiciate some dialog about the magic society you belong to as I believe that it would be in my best interests to be aware of it given my own usage of magic.

Interesting. Well, I'm afraid that you will have to speak with the Muggle relations people. The name Weasley comes to mind. While you are not technically a Muggle, this is clearly something that is outside my scope of expertise. I am hardly the perfect candidate for ambassadorial duties to those outside our own society.

Now that was the official spiel. Unofficially, I have to say that I'm curious about which books you may have in your store.

Most of the time I find people whose official role is that of liason between any two parties are terribly inept and usually have no scholarly experience either unless they happen to be my sister but that is another matter altogether.

I have one titled 'Dancing with Death: A Necromancier's Love Affair with Morbidity' and another called 'Potions to Turn Your Life Around' and another titled 'Dark Gods of the Dark Places'.

I cannot say that I greatly care for some of the necromantic spells in the first since beyond a few reliable mainstays I use surprisingly few necromancy spells and most in this book seem patheticly foolish in their application.
The potion one looked interesting to start with given that up until now I have taken directions in my magic that have not included potion brewing but most of the potions in the text are again, foolish and not at all useful to my mind.
The third has been and interesting piece of reading however, giving me some insight into old gods of this world.

It is not surprising that the potions book does not suit your taste. It is a very precise discipline. I daresay that even Wizards are hard-pressed to brew a decent Deflating Draught.

As for the necromantic spells, while the application of those spells may seem foolish, the knowledge itself is not.

About that third book: I believe that you would be better off discussing history and theology with Professor Binns.

Interesting commentary, not just on the HP world but on the real world, as well. Funny how clearly the concepts come across when couched in the fictional realm.

I imagine that you would have some pretty psychopathic folks working as Aurors. I liken Aurors to undercover FBI or CIA agents. A very gray existence in morality and very flexible with how the law is enforced. As long as it gets the job done, yeah?

I'm not sure if JKR meant the whole universe to be an allegory to what is actually going on in the real world, but I do think it's very fitting and pertinent.

Loved the RP. Was tempted to jump in and take Lucius out for a very strong drink.

You know, I think you're right. I never thought about the Aurors that way, really, but yeah.

Have I mentioned that I love your Snape? Wow.

And if you guys are going out for drinks, can Bella come?

A round of drinks without Bella is not my sort of round. Absolutely.
