Those five or ten seconds with Steve doing press-ups in his cell gave me serious shivers. I think it's the music that accompanied it? I get really excited about epic scores, and those few seconds had that sort of feel to it. I accept that I possibly the only person who got excited about the score.
But ignoring that - the visiting scene was not the same as the trailer! I hate it when shows do that. Usually it's massively disappointing because they change something that's good for a trailer into something that's better for the show as a whole, but at least this one still had Steve appreciating Danny's lack of tie. I concur, Steven. I definitely concur.
Also: THE SCRUFF. Oh my god, tattoos and scruff, Steve you are basically my ideal man right now never change ever, I spent most of the episode wanting to rub myself up against you.
and then and then and then, Chin just being generally badass that man's a fucking ninja, you goons think you can take on Chin Ho Kelly? You'd best think again.
And I'm not going to lie, I'd clearly forgotten how 1.12 ended because I thought that Hesse was dead so assumed that the scene in the yard was a dream. DERP DERP DERP. Obviously, it wasn't.
And then: CREDITS. With Masi Oka in them! That pleased me no end, I love him.
Danny: He trained Steve.
Chin: Oh, so it's his fault?
♥
Of course Steve escapes. I mean I'd seen the trailer so I knew that he did but still. Of course he did, he couldn't just do things the normal way and be patient and wait for his team to fix things.
Kono: I can run his ID, trace his cell, run surveillance.
Chin: How are you going to do that? You don't have access to HPD's database.
Kono: I'll use your password.
Danny: That's not a good idea.
Kono: Why?
Chin: You're not carrying a badge any more, Kono. I can't guarantee HPD backup.
Kono: You guys are my backup.
Danny: Definitely been hanging out with McGarrett too long now.
OHMYGOD, Kono you are quickly climbing up the chain to become my favourite, seriously, I love every single character on this show. ♥
I kind of wish that McGarrett had gone to Danny for help. I was actually expecting it, but I don't even mind because I love Max and how he dealt with it. Also we got shirtless!Steve so I don't mind whose sofa he's on.
And then we have Danny and "why are you yelling at me :(?", first domestic of the season and I love it.
And then: Rachel.
I'm going to be completely honest - I am glad that the baby is Stan's, and Rachel is getting back together with him. Don't get me wrong, I adore Rachel as a character, but I think that her and Danny getting back together would have been a terrible mistake. I could go on at length about this, but I basically think that they have a much more interesting and realistic dynamic apart - and whilst yes, many people who split up do get back together again, I've enjoyed having a couple on TV who don't get back together again, for a myriad of different reasons. So I'm glad. It also means that Rachel and Grace are moving back to Hawaii so I'm never going to argue with that!
I have missed those carguments so damn much.
And then there's briefly awesome music again when Kono is trailing that guy and ends up in Ko'olina Marina. Where is this sudden epic music coming from?! Not that I'm complaining, just confused.
I can't decide if I'm glad that the whole Steve-is-innocent thing was resolved so quickly. It would have been nice to have had a few episodes of Steve being on the run and being badass, but at least this way they can move on and focus on other things I guess.
Poor Danny though, sat by himself in his office whilst the others had a drink. I really, really hope that John wasn't dirty though.
And then. Then Victor Hesse.
Which I was expecting.
BUT THEN.
JENNA.
what what what what what WHAT IS GOING ON Jennaaaaa what hold does he have over you? :(
In conclusion:
