Summary: Linkara and Spoony wake up with fuzzy memories of the night before and rings on their fingers.
Linkara groaned, burying his face in his pillow. His head was killing him, and he felt disgusting.
There was a responding groan from next to him, and for a second Linkara was glad that someone else was feeling just as bad as he was. And then he realized that that groan meant that someone was in the bed with him.
He turned his head slightly and opened one eye, just enough so that he could see and hopefully not set off an even worse headache from the light streaming into the hotel room. The other person had a familiar mop of disheveled black hair, and Linkara relaxed and closed his eye, intent on trying to sleep off his headache. It was only Spoony.
It took a minute for that to sink in, and when it did, Linkara sat up quickly, despite his body’s protest.
Spoony groaned again. “Quit moving, my head’s about to split open,” he muttered.
Linkara took a deep breath. Okay. So he was in bed with his best friend. And wearing only his boxers. And Spoony didn’t seem to be wearing any more than Linkara was. No need to freak out.
Linkara rubbed his temples, trying to relieve some of the pain. That’s when he saw it out of the corner of his eye. There was something on his left hand. Linkara looked at it and blinked a couple of times.
Why on earth was he wearing a plastic Star Sapphire ring? Where had it even come from?
“Hey, Spoony…” Linkara said, trying to get the attention of the other man who was very pointedly trying to stay asleep.
Spoony made a displeased noise and grabbed Linkara’s vacated pillow with his left hand and, without opening his eyes, hit Linkara with it.
Linkara grabbed Spoony’s wrist. “Spoony…Why are you wearing a Green Lantern ring?” he asked, swallowing heavily.
Seeing the ring on Spoony’s hand brought up a fuzzy memory of the night before, of Linkara laughing and slipping the ring onto Spoony’s finger and Spoony doing the same to him, and reciting the Star Sapphire oath through their laughter- which Linkara didn’t even remember that he knew it, let alone well enough to recite it drunk. And there had been a priest there, Linkara was pretty sure.
Spoony finally opened his eyes. He stared at where Linkara was holding his wrist, the two plastic rings prominent on their hands.
“Spoony…what the hell happened last night?” Linkara asked. He had a higher alcohol tolerance than Linkara, hopefully he would remember more and tell Linkara that the sinking feeling he was getting in his stomach was wrong.
“…Pretty sure we got married,” Spoony said, still staring at the rings.
“I was afraid of that,” Linkara said.
“Fuck,” Spoony breathed, laughing a little. “We got married with fucking Lantern rings. How geeky are we?”
Ok, yeah, that was kind of funny, Linkara thought.
“I am never going drinking with you again,” Linkara said.
Spoony laughed. “You don’t have to, I’ve got you in my clutches now. I don’t need to roofie you,” he said.
Linkara snorted and started contemplating a shower.
“Seriously, though. You okay?” Spoony asked.
“So many weirder things have happened to me that this hardly makes the list. Order some breakfast, I’m going to take a shower,” Linkara said.
“Yes dear,” Spoony said sweetly.
“Smart ass,” Linkara said getting out of the bed.
“You love it, that’s why you married me,” Spoony said, sprawling out in the new available space.
“Yeah, maybe,” Linkara said, hiding his smile.
