Art for Bit My Heart in Two by Emeriin
I was really inspired by this fic. The first thing that hit me as an art inspiration was the image of Chick, facing away from the viewer, tying Critic's tie around her neck. And, being a short girl with dark hair, I almost went the photography route and modeled it myself, since my face wouldn't be visible. Unfortunately, I don't have the equipment necessary - I only have a cellphone camera and not enough hands, so that was out. But then I thought about Chick and Critic both kind of hiding from people, and curling up, and the picture I went with happened.
What I really wanted to do was show subtly how similar they were, and I tried to do that in their body language - both of them are sitting with their knees up, eyes closed, and both of them are kind of covering their faces, either with their hair or the their hat. And it's barely noticeable, especially since I didn't draw Critic with his tie on, but Chick's pigtail bands are red like Critic's tie.
