It is hard to have such a huge amount of time between blood. I am 8 years older than my mom's son and 12 years older than my father's. I hardly know who they are.

I know what you mean. My fathers had an affair with another woman when I was in elementary school and they conceived a daughter. At first I was really resentful toward this little baby and refused to look at pictures of her. But over time I grew up and when she comes to visit we always have silly fun together. She lives in Phoenix and I am very grateful to have another sibling I can grow up with. As for my brother, I feel at times I am a more prominent figure in his life then my sisters. His existence really helped me mature personally. The hardest part of moving away was not being able to experience those precious moments with my family as he grows. I know because of the age gap, I am never going to be that cool older brother about things but more of a worry wart. He just turned 1.
