Masturbatory Miniatures Modelling Missive

Christmas was relatively good to me, giftwise, I ended up with some new tools and suchlike. Probably the neatest of them is the Panavise. It's essentially a vise on which the head can be articulated on 3 different axes, allowing me to put stuff into whatever bizzarre position suits my fancy. Also got a power drill which is superiour to my Dremel for some applications, inferiour for others. I'll keep both.

Also got a box of minis from lupine_lutra, which was a pleasant surprise. I'd asked for one thing (at the pressing of TCR), and received something which was unexpected, yet in keeping, and somewhat more useful than the item I'd originally asked for.

At any rate, I'm doing some painting work that I've been hired for this week. It differs significantly from my normal painting fare in several ways.
  1. Deadline - I've got to have this completed by Friday.
  2. Established Color Scheme - I'm working this one off a completed example, the two pieces need to match relatively well.
  3. Metallics - I've not done much work with metallic paints recently, preferring to explore my talents with Non-Metallic painting.

The piece is a Cold One Chariot, produced by Games Workshop. The major components herein are the main chariot body, the two Cold One beasts which pull the chariot, and the two Dark Elf crewmen who ride the chariot.

What follows is my own notes for painting this:
Cold Ones are black with purple and bone accents. Exposed tongue on one mount is blue. Claws, teeth, horns are all bone. Large scales are purple. Will probably highlight the purple up a level or two to make the scales stand out, and give a deep grey layer to the black skin to bring out the details. Prime Black (as I customarily do).

Chariot body is black with primarily white metal Detailing, some yellow metal accents. Will probably not highlight the blacks here, instead preferring to make the metals stand out.

Crewmen have yellow metal armor. They also are wearing purple cloth underpaddings, and white metal chain on their lower bodies. Edging on chain skirts is yellow metal, and accents are done in a deep brown leather scheme. Skin is probably the most difficult thing I am dealing with here. Looks like an undercoating in some sort of turquoise, with a Pale BlueGrey overcoating to bring it up to something resembling flesh. Weapon hafts are black, blades are white metal, accents are yellow metal.

And finally, a question for the gentle readers here. Are my painting posts of interest? Should I leave them unfiltered, or create a separate filter for those readers who are interested?
