Woah, I've been busy. I had the most offing AWESOME Sunday I've had in a very long time; so of course now I'm going to natter on about it incessantly. Here's a list of the great things from the past few days
( Read more... )
... You like Roger Corman, too? asdfghjkl!! I had a wholesale rant about The Prestige being not-that-great if you've been brought up on Corman's Poe adaptations (specifically Tales of Terror, 'cause the core of my rant was The Prestige was about an hour too long for its storyline and ToT is 3 stories in 1 film). AND I HAD TO TELL YOU THIS, 'CAUSE I AM NOW BABBLING. AND I ONLY CANNED THE DAMNED RANT 'CAUSE I THOUGHT 'WELL, IT MAKES SENSE TO ME, PROBABLY NOT TO ANYONE ELSE WHO HASN'T HEARD OF ROGER CORMAN, AND THUS THINKS I'M JUST NOLAN-BASHING FOR THE SAKE OF IT.'
YOU MET ROGER CORMAN. AAAAAAAAAAH! *flail*
I've got my fingers crossed that they take you back on. You're due for some good news in the employment department. *hugs*
I freaking LOVE Corman. The first movie I ever saw that scared me was The Pit and The Pendulum. Started me out on my love of horror, Vincent Price, and high-grade B-movies
( ... )
YES! The Pit and the Pendulum is AWESOME. My first Corman encounter was Premature Burial. :)
I have such a soft spot for Vincent Price horror movies. :3 Have you seen Theatre of Blood? It's not Corman, but it's good (and was my 2nd reference in The Rant That Was Not Posted).
Oh. My. God. Hegaveyousoundadvice,too! *.* He's so awesome. ♥
HOLY SHIT. YOU UNDERSTAND. *CLINGS* I HAVE A STRANGE RELATIONSHIP WITH NOLAN'S MOVIES. I DON'T THINK HE'S PUT A FOOT WRONG WITH THE BATMAN ONES SO FAR, BUT I WISH HE'D STOP PUTTING TOO MUCH BAIT ON THE HOOK WITH HIS CONCEPT FILMS. I HAD THE SAME 'FIGURED IT OUT, NOW ENJOYING THE SCENERY' PROBLEM WITH MEMENTO AND INCEPTION THAT I DID WITH THE PRESTIGE. :S IT'S AWKWARD, I TELL YOU. :/
Yes, I have seen The Intruder. It was a long time ago, and I only vaguely remember it. But I have seen it. I remember it being one of those movies where you start watching it thinking 'William Shatner? *eyeroll*' and by about 1/4-1/3 of the way through you're all 'William Shatner CAN ACT?? O.O'.
I love Theatre of Blood! My God, anything with Vincent Price is well worth watching. He was just... awesome. Totally awesome.
I think the thing about Shatner is that he's a much better antagonist than he is protagonist. The problem I always had with him as a good guy is that he really oozes smarminess and arrogance- he's so slick (Can you tell that I'm a Picard girl?). I think it's much more convincing when he's evil.
