Ian - Hi. Cool pics and blog. All is well here. A friend and I did the sol duc loop yesterday - very fine, two bears, great views, blueberries to die for. Your mom just left after the book group. I looked at your fingers. I hope they are better. If I can be of help trying to link you and the doctors there into hand specialists let me know. My UW Email is: sbht@u.washington.edu. Keep in touch. Scott
Hey Scott! I bet the fall colors must have been gorgeous. And to do that whole loop this late, with the shorter days and all, is impressive. I'll be playing guitar again in no time. Though the fingers do stay at room temperature always now, I can't see it being that much of a continued problem as long as I watch out when it's cold. Thanks for the offer, and know I won't hesitate to take you up on it should things change. Hope you're well, Ian.
Ian: The fall colors were terrific. Bright reds. I did some reading on huckleberries and blueberries - we ate both by the handful. The book I consulted recommended calling them all huckleberries and just eating them. We were able to literally run our hands along the thin branches and fill our palms and then our bellies.I can see how bears get fat! You are right it is a little race between age and light but we still have an hour grace (headlamps and sleeping bag in our packs however). My latest run of the season is Nov 2 about 5 yrs ago. That would be tight right now given our pace.
Just let me know if I can help in any way. Keep in touch. Katy and Theodore doing well. Coal too. Best from me and Ouri. Scott
Ian I am (almost) speechless! Amazing!! Not so 'cute' without the background music, but you are right...they are perfect in their own place. Thank you for sharing. hugs D&J FPU
PICTURES! you're mutch better at keeping us updated now that you're chillin in the middle of nowhere and literally on the opposite side of the globe. at least you're skiing! i'm going on my fourth or fifth week(...can't remember) of being sick and hatcher is just 6 inches shy of being groomed...the front range is finally getting snow.
i am so jealous that you're in such an amazingly cool place, you're making me want to come down. everytime i see all these awesome pictures the thought gets closer and closer to actually being a vague dream...thanks for sharing!

Ian, I've been lurking on this site for a couple of weeks now in awe of the adventure you are on. The penguins are so awesome! Keep the Nikon working. Rodger
