an interesting ponderance for me this week becomes; what to get a 1 yr. old for their birthday? i guess, since a 1 yr. old isn't really going to be apprectiative of whatever i get, it's more a matter of what the parents will like. but maybe this gift could be so durable and lasting that the child would come to appreciate it when they get older.

I never know what to get my niece for her birthday either. Children that age are just difficult, because they outgrow all of their clothes, toys, and books like every three months. I just started buying her percussiony instruments, she can at least use those until she is 3 or 4 and big enough for me to give a mini drum set to (yes, that is right, I have decided for her that she will be a drummer, she's got insane natural rhythm).

When I was about that age, someone gave me a really cool table/chest deal, that I still have to this day. People also started buying me sets of encyclopedias. I guess if you will be continuing to give this child presents, start a set of those? Can't go wrong with art supplies. Maybe a season pass to a zoo or something? And it seems parents can never have too many of those Einstein learning DVD's (my personal favorite being Baby Mozart!), or DVD's in general. There are lot's of possibilities...

It's tough. It's tough. At least someone can feel my situation here. I definitely wouldn't get clothes, but maybe an accessory. MMMMM, now that could be worth something.
