Let the stupid bigotry stop. The IQ of my friends lists on various networking sites has dropped considerably today.

It's fine to disagree or be disappointed. But stop being a brat.

Yeah I've been having the same conundum. People are very entitled to their opinion, but I never knew some of my friends to be so....mean. One guy from highschool insisist anyone who voted for Obama has a mental disorder and that even though Obama was elected, God is still the one in charge.

Then you have the misfits that claim they are going to move to Canada. Let them go I say. The same threats happened when Bush was elected.

Personally, McCain or Obama would have been better than Bush. What's to complain about, we stepped up either way :P

People put a lot of weight into the Presidency early in their lives - as if their votes matter as far as deciding a president (they don't), and furthermore, as if their votes are actually going to change something in the real world (they won't).

Only to find out later that,

1) Both candidates work for the same people
2) Whoever was always in charge obviously still is
3) You still don't get everything for free.

And then they get bitter, and they yell and scream and complain, because honestly there's not a whole lot else we can do. They think they want to move to Canada, but that's just because they haven't woken up to the fact that Canada is just the 51st state. If they ever get off their asses and actually move there, they'll realize that not only is it the same, but now they don't know anybody and they don't have the government on their side...

I'm actually having a similar problem with my dad, who is a die-hard Republican. I asked him what he thought of Republicans who feel that the party left them by becoming more socially conservative than fiscally conservative, as some of my friends do, and he answered "they're wrong". End of discussion. When my sister, who works for the Humane Society, said that Sarah Palin has one of the worst records on animal rights in the country, he made a comment about how the media is painting her that way and it's not true. This is my sister's job. Clearly she's not basing her opinion on the media, she's basing it on her voting record. As are the Republicans I know - they are doing their research and following trends and so on. His responses are dismissive and paint these people (including his own daughter) as uneducated and uninformed, rather than addressing the issue. It's maddening and insulting.
