Swift migration

This evening, I went down to witness an annual event. The migration of the Vaux's Swift. As they migrate, they find hollowed trees, rock crags, and chimneys in which to spend the night. It was really delightful to watch them spin around like a tornado and start diving into the chimney. The flock entered the chimney for about 22 minutes. At times I ( Read more... )

Nice!! I've never even seen that many chimney swifts at once.

Oh yeah--I meant that I've never seen a ton of chimney swifts, let along Vaux's swifts (which are much cooler 'cause I haven't seen one). :)
