If they mentioned their candidate, people might start to, y'know, look closely at him or something.

To quote a sigfile on RASFF: "Results count. That's why I'm voting for Kerry."

Hell, half the Kerry supporters list "He's not Bush" as their top reason. Why can't Republicans like Bush because he's not Kerry?

At the least, a lot of people seem nervous that Kerry would not be nearly as willing to use the military. That doesn't seem to be a fault that Bush has.

Well, it's usually considered more dignified to say that you like something about your own candidate. All the Dem speakers managed it.

Come to think of it, Bush's big campaign pledge last time around was to not sleep with interns, so I guess it's consistent, anyway. :)
