I'll join in a few days, I'm busy MP3 encoding my CD collection now I have a shiny new laptop with plenty of hard disk space (and with a working CD/DVD drive).

All ripped with EAC and encoded with "LAME --preset standard". http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/ seem to be getting happier with the new LAME acoustic model, and despite not doing that great in recent listening tests, MP3 wins over Ogg for portability.

Having done listening tests with my ER4P headphones, I have to say that I still can't tell the difference between 256kbit MP3 and CD. And I think I have a reasonably good ear. In particular the JBFM and ER-4Ps sound 'live' as far as I'm concerned.

Likewise. I think the recommendations thing eats CPU and they only run it periodically, because it's doing something slightly mad like Bayesian inference over their entire database. Just looking at neighbours is interesting, though.

It's decided I'm a shoegazer. :)

Signed up as sesquipedality, and discovered that EAC hadn't been writing ID3 tags for me at all. *sigh*

Yes. It's currently retagging my 6,500 MP3 files for me.
